One of the biggest reasons people start to fail is because of their expectations – and this applies to your business, your family, your friends, and your life.

[02:46] 3 Reasons You Need to Release the Expectations of Others

First, it's human nature, however, everybody's different. Second, nobody cares about you as much as you care about yourself. That's why you have to care about yourself.

Lastly, we cannot control people. Everybody is in control of themselves. You only get to be in control of yourself – and what you can control are your expectations. But it's going to take practice. It’s going to take time, and some of them are going to be hard.

See which places you have those expectations, where you may not realize you have them, and you'll start to see whether you're living based on your expectations of other people.

We have expectations when we text people. For instance, we expect them to respond a certain way. Either we want to get a quick response or a specific response. And then we get disappointed when we get something different.

[12:39] How to Release Expectations

When somebody can't live up to your expectations, especially in a conversation where you need help and support, just separate yourself from that and move on. You cannot live by your expectations of other people. Be able to set boundaries. It's not about them, not living up to your expectations. But it's about knowing what's good for you.
