Remember The Game? #162 - Skate or Die
There were so many bad games on the NES. I love that little grey box, but I'd say 70-75% of the library was forgettable. And Skate or Die is one of those bad games. But for whatever reason, it isn't forgettable. It seems like EVERYONE played this game at least once or twice. And honestly, once or twice was enough. This game suuuucks haha. My buddy Brad returns to RTG Industries this week, and we talk about the dope soundtrack, the great...box art. The title screen was nice. And the we shit all over everything after you press start, because...ugh. Great title screen, though. And before we talk Skating and Dying, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, I talk about some games that I've done a 180 on since I launched the podcast. We talk about gaming burnout. And we discuss whether or not Epic did anything wrong by copying the Among Us formula and putting it into Fortnite Imposters. PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Super Dodgeball, Cool Boarders 2 and Wave Race 64! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! We'll probably follow you back ;) Twitter: @MemberTheGameInstagram: @MemberTheGameFacebook.com/MemberTheGameTwitch.tv/MemberTheGame Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #161 - God of War
This week is one of our prestigious Patreon Poll winner episodes, and we're talking about a game that launched one of Playstation's flagship franchises, and a title many consider to be amongst the best the PS2 has to offer - God of War. I've only ever played the most recent God of War title, (on the PS4), so many of you warned me that the previous games in the series were a little different to 2018's. I expected a hack and slash beat 'em up with Gods yelling at each other; and for better (and) worse, that's what I got. My childhood chum Daniel pops by the podcast this week, and we had a long chat about the pros and cons of Kratos's gaming debut (and there's definitely a few of each). I hope those of you that love this game still love me when you're done! And before we talk Gods, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, I talk about my experience with video game betas. We get into products from The Simpsons we'd like to see in real life. And I lock in my prediction as to when we'll see Nintendo's next console. PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime and Super Metroid! Remember The Game? #160 - Bioshock
Would you kindly check out this week's podcast? It's finally time for the much anticipated (or at least promoted) Bioshock episode. This is one of my favourite games of all-time, and when we started talking about PS3 and Xbox 360 titles on the podcast, Bioshock was the game I had in mind. My buddy Tyler makes another visit to Remember The Game? Industries this week, and we get into what makes Bioshock such a special game. And it might just contain the best plot twist in the history of video games. It's more than just a first person shooter (in our opinions), it's God damned art. And before we visit Rapture, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This week, someone asked what my least favourite console is. A listener and I defend the Michael Bay Ninja Turtle movies. And I give a shout-out to one of the comedians that inspired me to start telling jokes. PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Resident Evil 4, GTA: San Andreas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic! Are you on social media? Of course you are. Remember The Game? #159 - Wii Sports
It took 159 podcasts, but we're finally talking about the damned Nintendo Wii. And what better way to start than with the flagship title for Nintendo's little white phenomenon; Wii Sports! Like the Wii or not, Wii Sports was a HUGE game. In my opinion, it played a bigger role than any other title in helping the Wii set the record sales numbers it did. Maybe everyone didn't want to play Mario or Zelda, but who doesn't like to go bowling? My guest this week is my buddy Bradley McCue, who was actually the one that suggested Wii Sports as a game for the podcast in the first place. And dammit, it was a hell of a suggestion. A lot of good times (and the odd hole in the wall) with this bad boy. And before we play sports, it's another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, we talk about games based on the olympics. Someone asks what would be a harder library to collect; the NES or the PS4? And if I could only keep one of my Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X, which would it be? AND, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Wii titles Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! Remember The Game? #158 - Killer Instinct
We have a very vocal group of fighting game fans here at 'Remember The Game?', and I do my best to satiate them. I just didn't play a lot of fighters growing up. I thought I was throwing them a bone with Shaq-Fu a little while back, but that went across like a slap in the face (which would be my signature move if I was in a fighting game). So we're taking it up a notch. Killer Instinct is one of the rare (pun intended) fighters I played growing up. And while I stink at it, I really like this game. It was, and is, so damned cool! So we're giving it a chance to escape the shadows of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat this week on the show. My guest is making his RTG debut. He's a fighting fan and the Killer to my Instinct; Mike the Ref! Mike grew up playing KI in the arcade, I played it on the Game Boy (ugh) and the SNES (yay) and we're showing Rare's little fighter some love on this episode of the podcast. And before we talk the instincts of killers, it's another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, we talk about the recently announced Steam Deck and whether it's a threat to Nintendo's handheld crown. We also get into games we wanted to get into, but never did. And a listener writes in with a tale of gaming heartbreak, which prompts Adam to revisit one of his most traumatic gaming memories. AND, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring retro fighters Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat 3 and Killer Instinct! Are you on social media? Of course you are. Remember The Game? #157 - Jet Set Radio
The SEGA Dreamcast is the little system that could, but didn't. I have a soft spot in my hard heart for Sega's final console, and while it may not have gotten enough love in it's prime, it sure as hell is gonna get some all these years later at Remember The Game? Industries. This week, we're talking the odd, yet superb, yet slightly poorly aged, yet unique and super fun inline skating/graffiti laying Jet Set Radio. One of the more unique titles I've played in my life. It still looks and sounds great all these years later. Does it still play great? Let's just say at least it's easier on your eyes and ears than it is on your fingers today. My buddy Chris returns to the show this week. He's a life-long SEGA fan, and a suspected graffiti vandal/artist, and he has a lot of love for Jet Set Radio, as well. We get into the good and bad of this game, and speculate as to why SEGA ignores this series harder than gamers ignored the Saturn. And before we talk about fighting street thugs with spray paint, it's another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, we talk gaming subscription services like GamePass, and what affect they may have on gaming collecting. We also discuss the idea that it's time to stop considering Nintendo a competitor to PlayStation and Xbox. And are there any retro games we DON'T want to see remastered/remade? We'll tell you! AND, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring the Dreamcast titles Soul Calibur, Shenmue and Virtua Tennis! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! Remember The Game? #156 - Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
It's another 'Patreon Poll' edition of the show this week. Every month, you hot dogs get to pick a game I haven't played that you want to hear us cover on the podcast, and I play through it and then ramble about it into a microphone for an hour. And this time, we're talking about the weirdo of the Zelda family - Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for the NES. Nintendo struck gold with the first Zelda game, and so they decided to change EVERYTHING while developing it's highly anticipated sequel. Was it the right call? Gamers debate that to this very day. Former RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue returns to the show this week, fresh off playing this bad boy for the first time himself. Did we like it? Love it? Hate it? Maybe a little bit of all of those and just spent a hour trying to decide whether or not this game is good? Listen and find out! And before we try to make up our minds about Zelda II, it's another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This time around, we talk about Mario Golf: Super Rush, and the idea that maybe Nintendo is getting a little complacent. We look at the idea of indie gaming being in trouble, as the big boys in video games continue to buy gaming studios like a game collector at a flea market. And a few of you just wrote in with Simpsons quotes, and I read them because I'm a sucker for that shit. AND, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring the Gamecube titles Super Mario Strikers, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, and Mario Power Tennis! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! We'll probably follow you back ;) Twitter: @MemberTheGameInstagram: @MemberTheGameFacebook.com/MemberTheGameTwitch.tv/MemberTheGame Learn more about your ad choices.
