Better Call Daddy

Better Call Daddy

Reena loves a story, and she‘s fascinated by the people behind them. She loves to bring stories to life. Her appetite for storytelling has taken her from the Jerry Springer Show to the legal drama of the courtroom. From influential players to reality stars, nothing is censored here. Reena interviews people whose stories haven‘t been told, at least not through her unique lens, and then gets daddy‘s advice afterward like a good daughter does. Whether you have daddy issues or a father who‘s inspired your path, you will be able to tap into my daddy‘s wisdom, wit, and humor at the end of every episode. My daddy has been a guiding light my whole life and there‘s not much he doesn‘t know, as an entrepreneur for forty-plus years, a husband, a loyal son, and my number one supporter. He has learned lots of life lessons along the way and is here to share them with you. It‘s time to reminisce and reflect on the conversations you‘d like to have with your daddy and learn from mine. Come share in some good old-fashioned family bonding and help us up our wisdom rating. There is wisdom from four generations and I’m addressing what happens from childhood to adulthood!

361. From Vertigo to Vocal Warmups: Helene Beck: Coming From the Heart Podcast

361. From Vertigo to Vocal Warmups: Helene Beck: Coming From the Heart Podcast

Today's guest, Helene Beck recently celebrated her 100th episode on her very own podcast, Coming from the Heart. I love her enthusiasm for hosting the show, her motivation to inspire exercise, and her profound passion for music. Her love for music began at a young age, as she would sing along to commercials and mimic songs she heard. This passion for music led her to take lessons when she was around 10 or 11 years old. She continued to nurture her musical talent by listening to albums and singing along to artists like Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel, forming a deep connection to singing and music early on. She remained involved in music, participating in choir and pursuing music voice lessons at a studio in Hoboken. She took her musical endeavors seriously, recording at a studio in Brooklyn, a professional environment where even Lady Gaga had recorded. Despite her busy schedule and teaching career, Helene always found solace in music and expressed a desire to return to singing and recording, recognizing the therapeutic and fulfilling nature of music in her life. Helene's experiences with music highlight its significant role in her life, from childhood singing to professional recording sessions. Music has been a constant source of joy, expression, and creativity for her, shaping her identity and providing a means of emotional release and connection. Helene's mother had a profound impact on shaping her values and passions. As a reading recovery teacher dedicated to education, the mother instilled a strong sense of community service in the speaker. Going above and beyond in her role, she bought supplies for students and gave back to the community, inspiring the her own actions and choices. Her mother's commitment to education was evident in her journey, where she aspired to pursue a career in science but settled for being a lab technician due to financial constraints. Despite this, she later went back to school in her forties to pursue her educational goals, showcasing resilience and determination. This perseverance likely influenced the Helene's own pursuit of passions and continuous learning. Helene's admiration for her mother's dedication to education and community service is evident in her own actions, such as collaborating with the Hoboken Shelter and advocating for mental health awareness. The values instilled by her mother have translated into a passion for giving back to the community and making a positive impact, reflecting a deep-rooted influence that continues to shape the Helene's choices and endeavors. Helene's father, a school principal, had a strong sense of humor and used it as a coping mechanism, especially during challenging times. Despite facing illness and tough situations, he maintained a humorous outlook. For example, even when in the hospital, he would use humor and sarcasm to lighten the mood. This ability to find humor in challenging times not only helped Helene's father cope but also influenced her own perspective on dealing with adversity. She mentions that her father's humor was a way to release tension and bring levity to difficult moments, showing that laughter can be a powerful tool for resilience and emotional well-being. This aspect of her father's personality highlights the importance of finding joy and humor even in the face of adversity, emphasizing the value of maintaining a positive outlook and using humor as a coping mechanism in tough times. Describing my dad as an embellisher and creator, she had her question for my dad prepared: Does he perceive a change in awareness surrounding mental health? Her father adhered to the mentality of enduring hardships without expressing emotions, reflecting the stark generational differences. Despite this, she recalls a rare moment of seeing him cry upon losing his own father. Have you ever felt alone, searching for answers? Coming From The Heart Podcast is a safe space to share your experiences, expertise, and powerful messages of introspectiveness, hope, and love. Join us on the journey of self-exploration through a wide range of topics and discussions with diverse guests from around the world. We heal one heart at a time In June 2020, in the height of the pandemic Helene  launched the Coming From The Heart Podcast, an inspirational platform addressing mental health, mindfulness, never feeling alone and overcoming challenges. Her momentum to begin the podcast stemmed from her own mental health struggles with vertigo. What Helene did not realize at the time is that mind and body are synchronized and that going through personal trauma affects the body as much as the mind.   By determining to find her own voice, and dimmed light, she seeked to find a  community to rekindle her passion  and courage. Coming From The Heart Podcast, continues to be Helene’s healing journey, for it is her story that embodies strength and resiliency. Her story began by walking the beautiful beaches of  the  Jersey shore  that allowed her to inhale the sea breezes, collect sand in her shoes, and to connect with nature. Coming back home allowed her to  plunge forward with strength, courage and extraordinary tenacity.  Four years later she continues to  chase stories with incredible voices of celebrities and communities of others who share a common mental health thread to empower, heal, spread kindness and change the world with sparks of hope and love. Helene believes in the  5 C’s of mental health: Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control, and Confidence, evident in every facet of her being!  https://linktr.ee/coming_fromtheheartpodcast In December 2024, Helene launched Perspective Power Moves, PPM  As former international graduate professor, Helene supported many with her incredible intuitiveness and ability to support  career journeys with a mental health spin. Her insight to market your personal story has gifted her with the ability to share insight assisting many in securing positions with renowned technical companies, including Uber, Google, Apple, and Tesla. Her perseverance  and unique ability to reshape personal stories became her “secret sauce” in guiding others through the competitive job market. Ultimately, Helene believes in cultivating comfort and confidence in individuals, especially during their  journey to find the right professional position. What she believes is that 99% of the search is within ourselves,  and all  we need is the support motivation and confidence to plunge forward, that is where Helene comes in!  https://perspectivepowermoves.com Shout out to Zane Landin Here's his episode https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/288-positive-vibes-magazine-led-zane-landin-to-the/id1525296416?i=1000592020633 Jonathan Bogner mentioned in episode https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/340-from-hollywood-production-to-a-heartfelt/id1525296416?i=1000636971007 Night Cap mentioned nightcapit.com Connect with Reena bettercalldaddy.com linkedin.com/in/reenafriedmanwatts twitter.com/reenareena instagram.com/reenafriedmanwatts instagram.com/bettercalldaddypodcast Me and my dad would love to hear from you, Drop us a review, reviews help more people find the show, and let us know what you like and what you'd like us to change, Please share the show with one friend who you think would be helped by the show  ratethispodcast.com/bettercalldaddy podchaser.com/bettercalldaddy   Castmagic is the AI tool I use for show notes and podcast title ideas, it has helped save me tons of time.
