Plus, a woman lost her legs in a horrible accident…now just in time for Christmas, the moment she has been waiting for. And what if you open your gifts this Christmas and get something you don't want? Les Trent has re-gifting "do's and don'ts".  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The speed with which the Omicron variant of COVID is spreading is staggering and scary. The United States had more than 650,000 new Omicron infections last week but as the variant surges, the FDA today approved an easy to take pill to treat Covid-19. Meanwhile, those still hoping to be with family for the holidays, getting tested in advance is a challenge and time is running out. And we all remember those early COVID patients, cruise ship passengers trapped at sea. A cruise ship just returned to Miami after a COVID outbreak on board. We spoke with two passengers who got sick on the trip and say the ship's nurse never gave them a COVID test. Plus, call it the silver cloud of this latest wave of COVID. If you've been tripled vaxxed and still get COVID like these two people, experts say you may become super immune. And there is growing outcry over the 110-year sentence given to a truck driver who killed four people when the brakes failed on his big rig. The judge says his hands were tied thanks to sentencing guidelines, but more than 4 million people have signed a petition saying that sentence has got to be changed.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The next few days had been expected to be records for air travel, but with the Omicron variant now raging. Is it really a good idea to go? It’s a question being asked by most everyone with a flight reservation.  And almost two years into the pandemic, it often seems we have just as many questions... and with this new Omicron strain, one question is, is it less virulent than previous strains? It's an important question, especially considering people like this woman, so called COVID long-haulers, who still suffer effects long after they were infected. Plus, Christmas came early to the White House. As the president and Mrs. Biden show off their new puppy, Commander. But what happened to their other dog named Major? And the fall from grace for actor Chris Noth has been swift and certain just one week after he was accused by two women of sexual assault. He has been fired from his show The Equalizer, and now his former Sex and the City co-stars are speaking out in support of the accusers. Noth denies all allegations of wrongdoing. If you don’t have COVID, many health experts say there’s a good chance you will. The head of the National Institutes of Health predicts America could see as many as a million new cases a day - and with people uncertain whether they have the sniffles or a case of COVID — testing lines are endless. And did confusion over COVID rules lead to the death of a resident of a care facility? The patient wasn’t breathing and nurses at the facility called the paramedics who allegedly said they couldn't help the man unless he was brought outside. The paramedics who were involved have been placed on leave pending an outside investigation. Plus, Amazon drivers have been saving Christmas, thanks to all their deliveries but this Amazon driver may have saved a life when she jumped to action to save a girl and her dog being attacked by a pit bull! As Megan Alexander reports, it was all caught on a doorbell camera. And the show 'did' go on, but the final Saturday Night Live of the year was a stripped-down affair with only a few actors and some canned skits. SNL’s Pete Davidson was not on the show - but he was out...with Kim Kardashian.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. A viral blizzard – that’s what one health expert is predicting as we head into the holidays with the Omicron variant exploding across the country. Millions of people are in a panic to get tested before they head home to their families. With testing lines longer than ever, many are turning to home testing kits...but good luck finding one. And the former police officer on trial in the shooting death of Duante Wright took the stand today. Kim Potter cried as she talked about the traffic stop that went horribly wrong - when she says she accidentally drew her gun instead of her Taser. Plus, Spider-Man: No Way Home opens this weekend and Hollywood is hoping the superhero finally brings people back to theaters. Jim Moret has tips on how to stay safe. And you don't usually hear much sympathy for killer whales...but everyone thinks one lonely orca needs a friend. If you try to get a Covid test right now - prepare to wait. Around the country people are on long lines as they try to get swabbed before heading home for the holidays. Health experts are now warning of a major wave of the Omicron variant. And Ben Affleck is doing major damage control. He went on late night TV and was asked about all the blow back to his comments that he felt trapped in his marriage with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Plus, a terrifying scene at a McDonald’s as workers and diners hide from a gunman - and then run for their lives hoping the coast is clear. And three years ago Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores. Well, just in time for Christmas, Toys R Us is back complete with Geoffrey the Giraffe.   To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Covid is once again putting a wrench into lots of people's Christmas plans. With the Omicron variant spreading faster than health officials can even track it…holiday parties are being scaled way back or being canceled - even at the White House. And there's big reaction to Ben Affleck's candid interview about his relationship with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Affleck told Howard Stern he felt trapped in the marriage and said he would not be sober if he stayed with Garner - and that's lead to major blowback. Plus, we've told you about all the smash-and-grab crimes happening across the country - and now it’s come to this. People actually leaving their trunks wide open to prevent thieves from smashing their windows. However, cops are issuing a warning saying don't do it. And thousands are still without heat in Kentucky after those tornadoes blew through causing massive destruction...one family lives in the epicenter town of Mayfield and are so desperate to keep warm they started a fire to huddle around.     To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. We're learning more heartbreaking stories in the wake of those history-making tornados. And a serious warning today about Covid…authorities say a large wave of new cases is coming due to the Omicron variant...adding there will be plenty of hospitalizations. Plus, it was a horrifying crime. Members of a doctor's family shot and killed in their home by a former NFL player. Now an autopsy has determined he had an unusually severe case of brain damage he apparently suffered from his days on the field. And after the University of Houston lost a nail-biting game, a frustrated player knocked a garbage can over sending trash flying all over the floor...but one of his own teammates is being called a class-act for his reaction.   To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
