This weekend is a big one for runners, as the New York City Marathon takes place on Sunday. While officials say there are no credible threats, pro-Palestine demonstrators have posted specific plans on social media to show up at certain spots along the route, and as Steven Fabian reports, that's got some folks on edge. And you would like to think that a man who's been jailed three times for kidnapping women would never be allowed out to attack again…you would be wrong. This woman was kidnapped and beaten, cops say, by a man who did multiple jail stints for the very same thing. And she's lucky to be alive. Ann Mercogliano with a report that we warn may be intense for younger viewers. Plus, it’s a scare on a plane...as a backpack belonging to a former American Idol contestant went up in flames. Fortunately, the plane was still on the ground when it happened. Les Trent on what the airline says was in the bag that caused all the problems. And the death of Matthew Perry has led to renewed interest in the TV show Friends...including its theme song which is back on the charts after 30 years. Jim Moret speaks with one of the members of the Rembrandts - the pop group that recorded it.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The United States is officially urging Israel to pause it bombing of Gaza to allow hostages to be released and for humanitarian aid to be delivered to besieged residents, as the death toll there grows. Meantime here at home, tensions sparked by the war are reaching the boiling point, particularly on college campuses like Harvard, where Steven Fabian reports one student was mobbed by demonstrators. And imagine how terrified you would be if you saw a strange man on your security camera with a huge gun. Now imagine seeing that and being a 14-year-old girl home alone with your little sister. Jim Moret on how that teen - and her dog - are now being called heroes. Plus, it is one of the most bizarre motives for murder we've ever heard. Prosecutors say a man killed his wife…because she wouldn't appear on a reality TV show. The show was called Zombie House Flipping and an alleged disagreement about being on it ended in murder. And if you've been watching The Golden bachelor, then you know Gerry has narrowed the field down to just three women. The show, about love later in life, has turned out to be a hit - and no surprise, there's now talk of a “golden bachelorette". It will be weeks before the final toxicology report is completed on Matthew Perry. However, we do know he was taking a drug to help battle his opioid addiction, and one of the warnings is to avoid hot tubs. Jim Moret looks into whether that might have been a lethal combination. And in the Middle East, the first foreigners able to leave Gaza crossed over the border into Egypt today. Their exit comes just as ground battles between Israel and Hamas are intensifying. Phone service is once again out, and hospitals are reportedly running out of fuel. Meantime, as Steven Fabian reports, here at home a worrisome rise in antisemitism is finding some Hollywood stars and business leaders beefing up their security. Plus, getting outdoors is a great way to spend some time off, but it's important to remember that we humans are visitors to the animals' habitat. One angry critter got that message across in a devastating way for one woman. And the mood on the actors' picket line was more upbeat today with word that an end may be in sight. As Lisa Guerrero reports, that's great news for strikers and TV viewers. We're learning more about the day Matthew Perry died. He was underwater when his assistant returned from running an errand and found him unresponsive in the hot tub. First responders say the assistant lifted his head from the water. When firefighters arrived minutes later and took Perry out of the water, he was already gone. And in a recent interview, Matthew Perry said he wasn't afraid of love anymore. In the past, he had dated a string of famous ladies, but things always went south. During the pandemic, he got engaged, but they later broke it off. Now his former fiancé is saying as talented as he was, he was also very complicated. Plus, the war in the Middle East has led to some Halloween jitters in this country. In New York City, security is being amped up at the annual Halloween parade with officials warning that costumes can provide cover for extremists looking for targets. And Disney World is known for its high-tech animatronics - like the singing bears in Frontierland. So, when a real bear showed up inside the Magic Kingdom, at first many thought it was just part of the show. Then, wildlife officials came running! The death of Friends star Matthew Perry continues to reverberate as the world waits for word on what led to the 54-year-old star's death. He was found unresponsive in his hot tub by his assistant with paramedics saying they were responding to a drowning. And Matthew Perry once said that getting over addiction is the hardest thing a person can do, especially with the paparazzi watching. Perry says over the years, he spent $9 million dollars to get clean. As Les Trent reports, Perry was open about his struggle. Plus, maybe Taylor Swift really is Travis Kelce's good luck charm. Last night she wasn't in the stands, and he didn't have a great game... which led some to taunting. Can he just "shake it off?" And this American couple on vacation in Thailand did something they always wanted to do – ride an elephant. But things went horribly wrong when their guide was knocked off, and they were left holding on for dear life as the elephant went on a rampage. Les Trent has our exclusive interview. After a two-day manhunt still no sign of the man cops say is responsible for the shooting spree in Maine that left 18 people dead. The suspect's Subaru was found near a boat launch...so the question is: Did he make his escape on the river?  Inside Edition’s Steve Fabian boarded a boat to see what could have been his getaway route.  And, it’s something that has probably annoyed you while driving on a busy highway.  That sudden fright you feel when a motorcycle speeds right by you in between the lanes trying to beat the traffic. It's called lane splitting and it's incredibly dangerous as one man learned first-hand.  Plus, the makers of Ozempic say the drug is designed to treat diabetes, but millions use it to lose weight, and this woman is one of them. However, after losing 100 pounds, she was left with lots of sagging skin so she’s heading to a plastic surgeon before walking down the aisle. And, as if Taylor Swift's meteoric rise to superstardom couldn't get any better…she's now in the billionaire’s club! After almost three weeks, and much mockery, there's finally a new Speaker of the House. Today, Louisiana state representative Mike Johnson got enough votes to be sworn in, but things were ugly right up to the end. During a press conference, a reporter asked Johnson about his role in seeking to overturn the 2020 election and got quite a reaction. And it was just a few days ago the head of the FBI warned of the possibility of criminal activity in this country linked to the unrest in the Middle East, and it appears to have happened. A family in California says they were forced to hide in a locked room after an intruder broke in threatening to 'kill the Israelis.' As Jim Moret reports, police were called and arrested the suspect, leaving the family terribly shaken. Plus, troubling questions about that pilot who has pleaded not guilty to grabbing the controls on a commercial jet mid-flight. He reportedly told investigators he's been depressed for years and had consumed magic mushrooms two days before the episode. Was he trying to treat his depression? Many others have... including these moms who say mushrooms have done wonders for their mood. And it's a security vault containing millions of dollars' worth of diamonds, so you'd hope it would be super safe. Well, one guy just learned how secure those vaults are when he was accidentally locked inside. Not even New York's finest could get him out.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
