Last of the Vikings

In a remote village along the rugged coast of Northern Norway, the Myran family navigates the challenges of a life intertwined with the sea. The father, revered as a god by his oldest son, is a dedicated fisherman, while the mother lives in a constant state of anxiety, fearing the loss of her loved ones to the fierce storms and tumultuous waves. Yearning for safety, she dreams of a life inland, away from the coastal perils. This poignant novel delves into the clash between the inland and the coast, the divide between wealth and poverty, and the tension between tradition and modernity, all set against the backdrop of a winter filled with the trials and triumphs of fishing in Lofoten. - Summary by kathrinee
