Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards: Quick 3-Minute Lessons

Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards: Quick 3-Minute Lessons

Carrie from Quicklearn Quests helps you learn tarot through bite-sized lessons on the card symbolism.

Tarot has been a 30-year journey for me. I first learned to read tarot in a two-and-a-half-day course, and I was hooked! I loved having my cards read and wanted to demystify the process so I could read for myself and others.

At first, learning tarot felt like a memorization game—understanding the meanings of each card and how they fit into a spread. It took years to weave them into a story and even longer to trust my intuition (which, honestly, I still struggle with!).

In my professional life, I’m an instructional designer, course writer, and digital content creator. So, naturally, I wanted to create a structured way to share how I learned tarot—by focusing on the foundations, especially card symbolism.

Modern times have introduced modern tools, which help me create content in a timely manner around work and family obligations. This podcast was created with the support of AI tools for scripting and voice editing. Final content, storytelling and creative direction are all crafted and approved by me -- a real human with a real passion for this topic.

What You’ll Get from This Podcast:
  • A practical, no-fluff way to learn tarot – focused on symbolism, numerology, and core meanings.
  • A structured approach – designed for left-brained learners who prefer clear explanations before tapping into intuition.
  • Designed for all learning styles – If you’re a visual learner, I recommend looking up the Rider-Waite card images on your phone or using a physical deck while listening.
  • Beginner-friendly but valuable for experienced readers – Even if you know the basics, this podcast can help reinforce key lessons.
I love the woo-woo side of tarot, astrology, and numerology, but I also know that too much mysticism at the start can make learning tarot overwhelming. This podcast keeps things clear and structured, so you can build a strong foundation before diving deeper into intuition and spiritual exploration.

I hope you enjoy learning tarot as much as I do!

Happy Reading!
~ Carrie

I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Taro card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Nine of Pentacles, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Nine of Pentacles upright represents self-sufficiency, independence, and the rewards of hard work. It's about enjoying the fruits of your labor and feeling confident in your abilities and achievements. The reversed Nine of Pentacles can indicate struggles such as self-worth, or just feeling unhappy with the material rewards for your effort. The reversed Nine of Pentacles suggests that while you may have worked hard to achieve a certain level of success, you might not thoroughly enjoy or appreciate it. There may be feelings of inadequacy or concerns about whether you truly deserve the success or independence you've gained. Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Nine of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that it's time to reflect on your sense of self-worth. This card reminds you that it's time to look at your achievements with gratitude and pride.  Take a moment to appreciate how far you have come and recognize the value of your accomplishments. It may also indicate mindset issues around your financial independence, and you can find yourself having material insecurity. Sometimes, we tend not to lean into our success and may feel like we are not as independent as we'd like to be.  We sometimes get caught up in the fact that we had help along the way and didn't honestly do it on our own.  The Nine of Pentacles reversed recognizes these feelings and encourages you to see your success as earned and deserved. Remembering tarot cards helps when I can tie one of my personal experiences to the card.  For example, my reversed Nine of Pentacles moment was winning a national award for being among Canada's top 50 sales representatives for the company I worked for.  It was my first year in sales, and I will tell you how I won and why this was a Nine of Pentacles Reversed Moment.   I won by paying attention to the request.  When they laid out the sales contest, they clearly stated that you needed to sell a certain dollar amount in different products.  Many of them were new products that the company wanted to grow.  I ensured that I pitched all those products in every sales call to ensure that I made all the numbers.  I was selling advertising in a Yellow Pages phone book to small businesses, and I was a brand new sales rep.  When I won one of those 50 top spots, many seasoned sales reps outsold me by a landslide.  They shared that they did not pitch those new products often, so they weren't eligible.  My Nine of Pentacles reversed was feeling that I won on a technicality, not because I was good at my new job.  The reality is that I won because I paid attention to what was asked for by my employer. I was deserving, but that doubt crept in when I saw how much revenue some of these other representatives brought in.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Nine of Pentacles reversed. This card reminds us to recognize our accomplishments and enjoy the rewards that come with them. Of course, to memorize taro, keep practicing taro. As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will consistently remember the symbolism that applies across different cards in the deck. Thank you for listening. I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Eight of Pentacles, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Eight of Pentacles upright card represents dedication, hard work, and the commitment to mastering a craft or skill. It's about putting in daily effort to improve and refine your abilities. When reversed, it often suggests a lack of focus or dedication. You may feel unmotivated, distracted, or bored with your current tasks. The reversed Eight of Pentacles highlights the potential for burnout or dissatisfaction with your work. It could suggest that you're either putting too much pressure on yourself to be perfect or losing sight of the value in what you're doing. Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Eight of Pentacles reversed shows up in a reading, it's a sign that you may need to take a step back and reassess your approach to work or personal development. This card encourages you to reconnect with what truly inspires you. Rather than getting caught up in the grind, take a moment to consider whether your current path aligns with your long-term goals. This card may also indicate a need for better focus. If you've been jumping from task to task without fully committing, now is the time to hone in on one or two key areas that need your attention. It's a reminder that spreading yourself too thin can lead to burnout and dissatisfaction. My reversed Eight of Pentacles moment was the learning curve of transitioning from classroom training to video.  The truth is, I loved learning the software and the creative aspect of building videos.  However, starting anything new takes time.  As I presented digital files to clients for review, they would ask if I could make the video move in different ways. So many ideas led to long nights on Google, looking up how to make the video do things.  I was often working on a series of training videos simultaneously. Therefore, I was learning to manage my work differently. For example, I would create a new video while managing edits from others I already made. In truth, I love what I do. But it was a big learning curve and I was unsure if I was on the right path.  I had to look at it differently.  I decided to spend some time learning how to manage a digital workload, and that helped me keep my work organized.  I was able to find my focus. I decided that learning how to build digital training was the right path, as it would give me more flexibility and a different outlet for creativity and passive income. Once I reassessed my goals, I haven't looked back.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Eight of Pentacles reversed. This card reminds us to stay dedicated to what matters and to be mindful of burnout and the need for balance. Of course, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Waite TaroT if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own tarot card deck or a computer.Today, we're exploring the Seven of Pentacles, focusing on reversals.First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Seven of Pentacles Upright is about patience, hard work, and evaluating your progress. It's a card that reflects on your efforts and whether you're seeing the results you expected. When reversed, it often signals frustration with the lack of progress or a feeling that your efforts aren't paying off.The reversed Seven of Pentacles can suggest that you're growing impatient with the pace of your growth or success. You may feel you've been working hard but are not seeing the rewards as quickly as you'd hoped, leading to doubt and discouragement.Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Seven of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that you're feeling stuck or discouraged by the slow progress of your efforts. Whether in your career, finances, or personal life, you may question whether the time and energy you've invested have been worth it. This card invites you to step back and reflect on your long-term goals. This card also suggests being more patient with yourself and the situation. Sometimes, progress is happening behind the scenes, even if you can't see the results immediately. The reversed Seven of Pentacles encourages you to trust the process and focus on the bigger picture rather than getting caught up in short-term frustrations. My reversed Seven of Pentacles moment was losing hope when I started an e-commerce business. In 2013, I started an online clothing company called Carrie's Closet, that I operated for six years. I was shocked at how slow the growth was.  It was a lot of effort, time and cost, and it was over two months to get my first sale.  Week over week, I watched my stats on the website and social media. My views were increasing, but nobody was buying.  I felt like I made a mistake, and nobody wanted what I was selling. Two months into this, I was sitting at the hair salon getting my hair colored, and my phone made a funny noise.  I picked it up, looked at it, and saw my first sale come through! And it was someone I didn't know! I was so excited!   Similarly, with this podcast, It took me a long time to earn everyone's trust to follow me and download my new podcast, provide reviews, and some of you have even emailed me directly to thank me.  It's been a privilege to help you learn and memorize taro, and I hope you will continue to listen and learn with me.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Seven of Pentacles reversed. This card reminds us that while patience and persistence are essential, we must reassess and adjust our goals.Of course, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. I use the Rider Wait Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Six of Pentacles, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Six of Pentacles upright is all about balance, generosity, and the give-and-take dynamic in relationships, particularly around money and resources. It represents a flow where help is given freely, and those in need receive support. When reversed, it highlights an imbalance, such as an unequal exchange of energy or resources. The reversed Six of Pentacles often signals that something is off in your relationships with others regarding giving and receiving. You may be giving too much and receiving little in return or relying too heavily on others without reciprocating. This card asks you to look closely at these dynamics.Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Six of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to examine the balance in your relationships, particularly where money, time, or energy are involved. This card urges you to create a healthier, more reciprocal flow. It can also indicate that you need to set boundaries around giving. If you're constantly helping others at your own expense, this card reminds you to protect your energy and resources. It's okay to say no when feeling drained or realizing the exchange is not mutual. My reversed Six of Pentacles moment was recognizing a pattern that both my husband and I had when it came to helping others. Both of us love to be generous and to be in service. More than once, we have often gotten ourselves into situations where we have found ourselves taken advantage of. We are not great at setting boundaries with people who need help. We generally operate from a heart space of helping if we can. However, we have run into people we have helped get on their feet to have them walk out of our lives once they got what they needed. My husband has given money to friends who have never paid him back and stopped picking up the phone. Most people have not done this, but there is also a common thread where this continues to happen with some of the people we help. This is not intended to sound like a victim story, but it serves as an example of the Six of Pentacles Reversed. We are happy to do what we can, but we both need better boundaries.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Six of Pentacles reversed. This card reminds us that balance is critical in any relationship, especially regarding giving and receiving. Of course, to memorize taro, keep practicing taro. I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Two of Pentacles, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Two of Pentacles Upright is about balance, multitasking, and managing multiple responsibilities gracefully. It represents the ability to juggle different aspects of life, work, relationships and finances, with a sense of flow. When reversed, it can signal that things are starting to slip. You may feel overwhelmed by your commitments and struggle to balance everything. The reversed Two of Pentacles often points to a time when you're stretched too thin. The demands on your time and energy may pull you in too many directions, leading to stress, exhaustion, and perhaps even a sense of chaos.Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Two of Pentacles shows up in a reading, it's a warning that you're on the verge of burnout or chaos. If you've been trying to juggle too much, this card tells you it's time to reassess and simplify. It's also a reminder to step back and focus on self-care. Sometimes, the need to keep everything in balance can take a toll on your well-being. The reversed Two of Pentacles suggests that if you don't take the time to rest and reset, you could find yourself facing unnecessary stress and frustration. To memorize this card, I think of a time in my own life that represents the card. My reversed, Two of Pentacles moment was the time around my wedding. My husband is from Germany, and I am from Ontario, Canada, so much of our family needed to travel. Many got hotels, but a number of them stayed with us. Overall, I had an amazing experience, and having that much family around gave me an instant army to help pull it off. However, I was definitely in a Two of Pentacles Reversed energy. I was off-kilter, stretched too thin, all the things that come with a wedding and lots of family in my home. I wouldn't have done it differently, but I am sure many can relate to the blessing and stress of all the pieces of a wedding.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Two of Pentacles reversed.
