It can feel frustrating when you’re doing everything right, and you hit a plateau.  Hot flashes, weight gain, and energy issues are massive symptoms.  Menopause is natural. However, suffering is optional.  In a quick window of time, we can feel improvements and feel empowered.  [07:10] The Importance of Maintaining Healthy Ovarian Function   We can restore and keep healthy ovarian function by looking at hormone disrupters and clearing them from our bodies. Plus, we should support the liver and detoxification.  Healthy habits will allow us to have our menstrual cycles for longer - it’s a longevity marker. One of the risk factors for diabetes and pre-diabetes is menopause. A higher risk factor is if you've had a hysterectomy. Thirdly, if you've had your ovaries removed, you have a significantly higher risk of diabetes. If you had your ovaries removed, even before 65, your risk of cardiovascular disease is almost double.  The association with diabetes tells how important it is to maintain healthy ovarian function.  [09:10] Why Women Need More Ketones Between The Ages of 35 and 55  During ages 35 - 55, the use of glucose in a women’s brain significantly decreases.  Instead, you shift to using ketones for fuel in the brain. Dr. Cabeca emphasizes the importance of greens. Depending on your symptoms, you have to pause greens, or you may have to pause meat.  Sometimes we need to challenge our gut bacteria, and sometimes, we have to support digestive enzymes. A healthy person's adaptation is more effective than an unhealthy individual. Understanding how adaptation works is crucial for maintaining overall health. Tissues adapt to the stresses applied to them. Just as exercise can lead to stronger muscles, proper stress management is essential to prevent chronic issues. Bones also adapt to the forces they experience. Uneven weight distribution can lead to imbalances in bone mass. Maintaining balanced weight distribution is vital for long-term bone health.  The righting reflex governs our posture, adjusting it based on head position. Maintaining proper head posture is crucial, as it influences overall body alignment.  [11:35] Nervous System's Health and Sleep: How are they connected?  The way you sleep can impact various aspects of your health. Sleeping in a contorted or twisted position can lead to structural dysfunction and health-related issues.  Sleeping on your back is recommended to restore the cervical curve and maintain optimal spinal alignment. It promotes natural alignment and minimizes contortion, aiding the body's structural healing process.  Early sleeping habits can contribute to poor sleep positions that may persist into adulthood. Recognizing and correcting these habits is essential for promoting proper spinal health.  Late-night exercise or eating can elevate core body temperature. Deep sleep is most restorative when achieved within the first third of the sleep cycle. A drop in core temperature is necessary for quality sleep. [25:23] What is Neck Nest? These Are the Things You Need to Know Relying too much on external support, like pillows and braces, can weaken the body's natural structural integrity over time, causing imbalances and issues.  Over-reliance on supports can lead to biomechanical stress, restricting natural movement and causing increased stress on other body parts. The Neck Nest pillow encourages proper spinal alignment by gently stretching and reversing the effects of forward head posture. A rhythmic heartbeat indicates sympathetic dominance while varying rhythms suggest parasympathetic dominance. Adaptability and health thrive with rhythmic variation. The parasympathetic system supports vital functions like hormone regulation, digestion, and immunity. An imbalance can lead to chronic health issues. Poor posture, especially forward head posture, can constrict the vagus nerve, a key contributor to parasympathetic function. Addressing structural issues like cervical curve misalignment can help restore nervous system balance. Achieving overall well-being involves understanding the intricate connection between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems, addressing structural factors, and maintaining HRV within optimal ranges.  [51:07] Glymphatic System: Sleep, Fluid Dynamics, and Well-being The glymphatic system is a mechanism that facilitates fluid flow around cells, helping to eliminate toxins and deliver nutrients. It's vital for overall cellular health and brain function. Morning joint swelling, known as pre-stress, occurs due to fluid accumulation. While it supports joint health, it also makes individuals more susceptible to injuries within the first hour after waking up. Studies suggest glymphatic drainage might improve when sleeping on one's side, but research has been primarily conducted on rats. For Clearing Free Radicals Spirulina is an effortless way to get the nutrients you need to give you energy.  The true energy that you get from spirulina is really at the cellular level. When your cells have energy, you’re getting better digestion, reduced inflammation, more free radicals, and you can think clearer.  Inside the mitochondria is a second membrane where ATP production occurs.  Virtually no antioxidants can make their way into that inner membrane.  There's nothing that can make its way into the inner membrane to get rid of those free radicals except something called S.O.D.   The highest concentration of S.O.D. is in spirulina. [13:00] Spirulina Could Be The Missing Piece To Getting The Mitochondria To Function Better Spirulina is called cyanobacterial; they are your mitochondria.  Mitochondria in our cells came from the cyanobacteria, effectively spirulina. When you have spirulina, it's like introducing your body to itself. If you look at the shape of spirulina and you look at the mitochondria, they are identical.  When you take something identical to your DNA, your body knows what to do.  [17:50] How Chlorophyll Can Heal Cellular Damage Inside The Body  When you have free radicals, they cause what's called oxidative stress. Oxidative stress will cause cellular damage.  With cellular damage, nutrients cannot flow into the cells, and toxins cannot flow out of the cells. So, you will end up with more free radicals inside the cell, causing severe damage.  Eventually, this can cause rogue cells, leading to cancer.  Chlorella and spirulina are excellent at correcting that because they have the highest chlorophyll concentration in the world.  Healthy fats will heal your cell walls. Chlorophyll is a fat-based pigment.  [23:25] The Reasons You Should Take Algae Instead of Fish Oil  Spirulina is higher in GLA and omegas than fish oil.  Fish get their omegas from algae. So cut out the middle man by going straight to the algae.  Algae is cleaner, and it doesn’t go any farther down the food chain.  Plus, it is already rancid by the time you get fish oil from the store. With Catharine’s algae, you’ll get anti-inflammatory benefits. Also, it never goes rancid, and it never goes bad.  [32:30] Does Algae Increase Your Glucose Levels?  Algae do not decrease your ketones, and it does not increase your glucose. Catharine has tested it herself with people who have CGM monitors.  Algae has been used for decades for people who have diabetes.   Catharine’s products are taken by people looking to reverse their diabetes. Unfortunately, we know more about our cell phones than we do our bodies.  When something goes wrong, people run to conventional medical sources.  Instead, we need to learn how our body functions and what it requires to function at an optimal level.  [37:50] You Can’t Have An Iron Overload When Taking Spirulina or Chlorella The nice thing about algae is that it's what's called an adaptogen.  It won't be absorbed in your body if you do not need that nutrient. However, this is not the case with iron supplements. Catharine urges people not to take iron supplements because you can easily get overloaded with iron.  The iron in the spirulina or chlorella comes from an organic source. So, your body can recognize it and know what to do with it.  [39:20] Taking Algae Can Replace Your Mineral Supplements  Spirulina and chlorella are loaded with minerals like magnesium and potassium.  When your body makes S.O.D, it needs manganese, zinc, and copper. All of these minerals are in spirulina.  Many people will use chlorella because it helps recover your health and helps remove toxins.  Take chlorella for detox instead of activated charcoal. Activated charcoal will pull out all minerals, not just the bad stuff.  [41:20] Algae Is A Great Biohack Before Red Light Therapy  Red light therapy stimulates mitochondrial growth; it also reduces inflammation. Bacteria have chloroplasts in them, and they generate energy from light.  When you take spirulina or chlorella before red light therapy, you stimulate the mitochondria even more. Many symptoms are so subtle that you may think it is just because you are aging. -       There are unlimited tools that allow us to get insights into how our bodies are functioning. -       If we can be proactive with monitoring our health indicators and use those numbers as a guide to our behavior patterns, we can begin to see what true health is. -       When people can understand the proactive approach to living a healthy and fit life don't need the pharmaceuticals. -       Know and understand your body. [34:15] Keep Calm and Take Deep Breaths to Clear Your Trapped Emotions  -       To deal with those trapped emotions, the first thing to do is to take a couple of deep breaths and realize that this situation is not what you perceive it to be. -       As a group of people, we need to start understanding that we are in charge of our emotions. Unfortunately, Ari got very sick with Epstein Barr Virus and mononucleosis in his mid-twenties. He lost about thirty-five pounds in the span of a month; he couldn’t eat because the back of his throat was so swollen.  Ari was left with chronic fatigue; it shifted his entire life.  So, Ari started to focus on the world of energy optimization; he became obsessed with energy science. Conventional medical doctors had no information to offer Ari.  After doing research, Ari found that science actually does not support the idea that adrenal fatigue is a significant cause of chronic fatigue. Well, Ari realized that no one truly understands what is causing fatigue.  [08:45] The Key To Overcoming Fatigue Is Growing More Mitochondria  Finding ways to grow more mitochondria and strengthen your mitochondria is a massive key to the puzzle of overcoming fatigue.  The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell.  We are taught to think of mitochondria as these mindless energy generators. Something you may not know is the mitochondria have a dual role beyond energy production, which is just as important as their role in energy production.  The mitochondria also help with energy regulation.  Your energy levels are a function of the degree to which your mitochondria decide if you’re safe or if you’re under attack.  [17:50] Hormetic Stressors Will Make Your Mitochondria Bigger and Stronger  Hormetic stress is how a transient metabolic stressor works to stimulate beneficial adaptations that ultimately increase resilience and resistance in the face of a broad range of other stressors.  Basically, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.  By exposing yourself to moderate stressors within your body's capacity, you make your body more robust and more resistant.  Hormetic stressors are vital for challenging our mitochondria and stimulating them in a way that makes them bigger and stronger. [27:30] Is Your Body Under Attack? Your Brain Will Create Sickness Behavior When cells are under attack, they shift all their resources to defense mode.  Cells will go into defense mode to protect themselves. They also go into defense mode as an evolutionary adaptive mechanism to help the body’s energy and resources be redirected towards defending against the threat. When we have lots of immune activation and elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, the brain responds by also creating sickness behavior, which includes fatigue. When your brain creates sickness behavior, it protects you from over-expending energy and depleting resources.  [42:40] The Importance of Melatonin: What You Need To Know You get 50 to 70 percent suppression of melatonin secretion by the brain in the evenings due to simply being in a typical home under standard indoor home lighting.  Melatonin is a vital hormone for protecting your mitochondria and protecting your brain’s neurons.  If you're chronically suppressing melatonin at the cellular level, you will have chronic melatonin deficiency.  Sadly, melatonin doesn’t get the respect that it deserves.  [1:05:15] Ari Is Hypersensitive To Melatonin Supplements - Are You?  Ari is hypersensitive to melatonin if he takes it in supplement form. So, Alan fed worms oxaloacetate to see if they would live longer. It worked! It’s not often you find a way to extend the lifespan of a species. [19:20] Is There Any Concern With Ascorbic Acid and Throwing Off The Copper To Iron Ratio?  One hundred fifty milligrams of ascorbic acid is not enough to do anything unless you are very, very sensitive to vitamin C.  If you drink a glass of orange juice and feel terrible, you’re probably sensitive to vitamin C. It’s very rare to be sensitive to vitamin C. But sometimes, we need them as a stepping stone to something else. -       To replace sugar, remove the component that needs for sweetness for the sweet taste.
