Episode Webpage: http://www.missingwitches.com/2018/09/30/episode-2-ipsita…d-all-are-hunted/ http://theyoungbengalbrigade.com/ A story of visions, rose petals, arrogance and activism, told through the eyes, craft and writings of Ipsita Roy Chakraverti. Our story begins in 1960’s Montreal. A ten year old Indian girl, Ipsita Roy Chakraverti from West Bengal, is about to have the first in a lifelong series of encounters with the supernatural leading her like breadcrumbs to a life of witchcraft: she’d go on to spend her teenage years in a secret women’s school devoted to ancient mystery studies in the Laurentians, North of Montreal; publicly declare herself a witch in India’s National Press, and dedicate her life to protecting women from the rape and torture of the modern witch hunt. With an Elvis Presley detour along the way. About Missing WitchesAmy Torok and Risa Dickens produce the Missing Witches Podcast. Missing Witches - Pixie Colman Smith: “Look for the Door Into The Unknown Country.”
Welcome to The Missing Witches Podcast, where we tell stories of badass women who have practiced magic. In this podcast we go looking for the witches we’ve been missing - we is myself, Risa Dickens, and my co-producer and sound designer Amy Torok. This is a feminist history storytelling podcast where we try to fill gaps in our mental maps of what a witch is and where are they and what have they been doing? It’ll necessarily be a mix of history, gossip and maybe some magic to fill in the blanks. Our focus is stretching our perspective to find witches from all cultures and colours. Our goals are to learn something, to do justice to people we admire, and if we can, give love, research, curiosity, respect and voice to some witches who’ve stories we’ve been missing. With that in mind, we want to start with a witch whose identity and contributions have been multiply erased, but whose work guides the mind and practices of pretty much everyone who touches anything remotely mystic: the maybe-mixed race, probably queer woman artist behind the world’s most famous tarot deck, Pamela Colman Smith. Check out our website for Pamela Colman Smith resources and more! MissingWitches.com About Missing WitchesAmy Torok and Risa Dickens produce the Missing Witches Podcast. Missing Witches Trailer
Missing Witches is a research based, feminist occult storytelling project. It’s sort of like Disgraceland, or Lore, except each episode is about a real witch. It tells some pretty crazy magical stories about women, and emphasizes women of colour. Missing Witches is co-produced by Risa Dickens and Amy Torok. We are releasing a total of 12 episodes for Season One: Sundays, starting on the Sept 23 Full Moon and ending on Oct 28, we’ll release 6 episodes that are scripted, research-based stories of actual badass witches. Wednesdays, from Sept 26th to Halloween, we’re releasing “Witches Found” episodes – interviews and spotlights on practicing, contemporary witches in our community – healers, shaman, and a dominatrix who makes a passionate case for sex work as magic. We hope you’ll take a listen you’ll let us know what you think!! About Missing WitchesAmy Torok and Risa Dickens produce the Missing Witches Podcast.
