On campus vs off campus accommodation | iSchoolConnect
Hi guys, welcome back to the podcast. If you liked the podcast, don't forget to like, review, comment, and subscribe! Visit our website, www.ischoolconnect.com for detailed assistance. Book our counselors free profile evaluation and analysis slot right here. https://app.hubspot.com/meetings/swathi1/speak-to-expert Read the podcasts blog version here - https://ischoolconnect.com/blog/on-campus-vs-off-campus-what-should-international-students-choose/ Watch the podcasts video version here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEaTYUCfJbk Through this podcast we will weigh the pros and cons of staying on campus versus staying off campus. The best way to decide is by choosing what matters the most to you. Here are the key highlights of the podcast - Reasons to live On-campus Accessibility - Everything is close by and affordable. You practically pay nothing for travelling to the college and you will also get the chance to avail student benefits at a discounted price. You will have everything sorted from accommodation, food, WiFi, electricity, water, stationery, gym, restaurants among many other things. Social Life - The university is the center for all student interactions. On just stepping out of your dorm room you will be welcomed by students all over the university at all times. You would be exposed to a diverse bunch of students with whom you can network and interact. Security - Security is of utmost importance. Parents are much easily convinced about on campus accommodation because the safety standards are far more superior than the rest of the city in general. Within the university campus, you will be safely guarded by on campus police and security teams patrolling day and night. Benefits of living off-campus Personal Liberty - Liberty, independence and self reliance are the greatest gifts of staying off campus. You will be interacting with people from all walks of life and all ages which add to your experiences and level of maturity. Availability - Some universities do not offer on campus hostel services. In such cases students can explore accommodation options around the university. Students can therefore look for a place that matches their requirements. Space and Privacy - Your time at the university would require you to spend quality time in solitude. This means if you get an apartment just for yourself and a friend, you wouldn't be continuously surrounded by an overwhelmingly large number of people. The final verdict - The final verdict is clearly a personal choice. The benefits and disadvantages of both have clearly been laid out for you. The best way to decide is to evaluate what is best for you. Having said that, remember that you will always have a flexibility to move on or off campus. Do tell me in the comments your point of view! How to build a 100% scholarship profile
Hi guys, welcome back to the podcast. If you liked the podcast, don't forget to like, review, comment, and subscribe! Visit our website, www.ischoolconnect.com for detailed assistance. Looking for detailed assistance? Book our counsellors free profile evaluation and analysis slot right here. Watch this here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j21_0xDGvek Today we are talking about the 8 tips that will help skyrocket your profile. These will help you regardless of your next step, be it higher education or working as a professional. The key highlights and tips shared through the podcast- Academics - Good academic scores act as a great base for your profile. Make your profile stronger by taking up well recognised certificate courses. Short online certificate courses are especially useful when a student tries to shift his/ her career from what they had originally studied. Soft skills - A student’s communication skills are evaluated through the way the SOP is drafted or even through the impact created in the video interview. Aspirants must make an added effort in polishing the way they speak and communicate, both verbally and non-verbally. Persona - It’s as important to be well put together on the outside as it is essential to be well prepared and read on the inside. As an aspirant, this is just the right time to build upon your personal style. Work experience - Volunteering work, internships, jobs, pro bono projects are all great examples of work experience. Students with some kind of experience always have an upper hand. LinkedIn - LinkedIn is the best way to create a professional profile for prospective recruitment officers to evaluate. Here are four top key takeaways for LinkedIn. Firstly, make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated and well written. Secondly post relevant articles pertaining to your area of expertise with your perspective on it. Thirdly, try to connect with the people in your area of interest. Who knows you might find a proactive mentor online? And lastly, try and write short and crisp articles about what interests you. Social media -Social media is more than just cat and dog memes. Curate or create content that interests you. For instance, you like coding? Why not start off with a youtube channel talking about new updates or nifty ideas in this space? Extra curricular activities - Your hobbies can range from reading to riding horses, however what universities are looking for is the intent and passion with which you pursue this extracurricular activity. When you talk about your extracurricular activities in your SOP or interview, remember to reflect the sincerity, consistency and growth in your hobby. Social work - Universities want to associate themselves with students who don't just think about themselves but also about the world around them. Show how you have touched the lives of people around you through your philanthropic endeavors. Big brownie points for this one!
