A couple months ago, the Zelda Dungeon writing team put their collective heads together to think of some specific in-depth changes they wanted to see take place from Breath of the Wild to its sequel. Buckle in and grab your weapons, because this week, we go in our way back machine to reminisce about everyone's favorite Hylian Hero making an unprecedented guest appearance in Namco's 2003 fighting game, Soulcalibur II! How did this happen? How does Link play? What were his weapons like? And what was the climate of the console wars back then? All this and a ton more are up for discussion! But that's not all! We have TWO live streams to announce - first, NEXT SUNDAY at 4 PM Central, Alasyn and I will be joined by Mases as we host a live Phantom Hourglass retrospective podcast as part of Linktober's Zelda Creator Con. Ticket's are $1 (yes, you read that right) and you'll be able to see us live as well as tons of other amazing artists. For more details, check this out. A day late, but a couple bucks over value, we are here to dive into The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. You guys know how these definitive ranking series work by now - we take 10 classic categories like dungeons, overworld, art style, music, etc. - and grade a Zelda game individually on these categories. So a couple weeks ago on my other podcast Virtual Theater, I was telling Gooey that I wouldn't buy the recently released Final Fantasy VII Remake because it was a remake of only the first 5-10% of the game. I even said "that would be like remaking Ocarina of Time and only having the entire game take place in Kokiri Forest!". Fast forward to now, and I caved and bought FFVIIR, really enjoyed it, and felt like it offered a complete experience. So in order to not have to eat a bunch of crow, I came up with an Ocarina of Time Remake game of my own... set entirely in Kokiri Forest! Come hear my pitch on what this game could look like, what you could expand, how many dungeons you could include, and how big a re-imagined Kokiri Forest could look like! Is it an insane idea? Yes!
