On the evening of July 23, 1993, Elnora Griffin was murdered in her home in Tyler, Texas. The crime was so brutal, some first responders, for their own good, were actually kept from entering the crime scene. Quickly, Elnora's neighbor, 25 year old Ed Ates was the prime suspect. He lived next door to Elnora and witness claimed that Ed was at Elnora's house just before the murder happened. Also, investigators were able to prove that Ed lied to them about his alibi. It would take two trials, but eventually Ed was convicted for the murder. The only thing is: Ed didn't do it.
