Welcome to our newest WIIM Radio! This time around we had me, Peter, and Prashanth around to talk all things Wings. Here’s what we got into: Closing Out the Joe - Memories and feelings from the last game at the Joe from the ride watching at home to the in-arena atmosphere; we talked about a real fun game to experience to finish out a disappointing season. What Comes Next for the Wings - While fans chanted “come home Stevie”, we get a chance to discuss how the Wings get back to having real pride for the team they are. It starts at the GM position, of course and the need to make the right moves. Prashanth talks about his plan. Drafting and General Managing - We discussed the Wings draft strategy being for maximum value and the faith in the general manager to carry this stuff out. Mostly, we get a lot of stuff out about how Ken Holland is going to get one more year, but that year is going to be telling one way or another. Frans Nielsen and the Wings Being Tougher to Play Against - Nielsen’s comments were right... but also kind of wrong. Confused? Don’t be. We’ll explain. Around the League - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA CHICAGO. Ok we’ll talk about everything else too, including the coach/GM firings and the Wideman lawsuit. Positivity Corner - Our favorite segment is back with nice things to say about a very small percentage of things that aren’t terrible! Welcome to our newest WIIM Radio! We’ve got me, Graham, Prashanth, and Lauren chewing the chat on this and that going on with the Red Wings. Here’s what we got up to: The Wings are Winners Again! - Detroit came off their break and beat the Canucks in OT, despite the struggles. With only one game to break down this week, we’ll spend waaay too much time talking about that. The Trade Deadline - The Wings held Ott out instead of Vanek and it turned out to be the right idea. We’ll give our overall thoughts on the deadline and how the Wings sold folks off. The New Rebuild - Ken Holland hasn’t solved all the problems, but in terms of the direction of the team, the trade deadline moves were a good step. We talk about what they can do with all the draft picks and what more can be done going into next season. Around the League - Winners and losers of the trade deadline. Haha Colorado and WTF Ottawa? So the Capitals won the whole trade deadline, yeah? Positivity Corner - Fond farewells and new beginnings in this segment. Well hey there, everyone! It’s time for a brand-spanking-new episode of Winging it in Motown Radio. There’s plenty to talk about with the trade deadline on the horizon, the performance (or lack thereof) of the team, injuries, and other topics from around the league. Here’s the rundown: The Wings as of late - Well, not very good. They have yet to “go on a run” like everyone has been saying they need to do. Is it going to happen? What needs to change to make it possible? The trade deadline approaches - The trade deadline is March 1st. The Wings are fighting in the basement with the Tampa Bay Lightning and it appears that they are set to be in a position to sell. Trade trackers at TSN have Thomas Vanek listed as a commodity, but the team and Vanek himself have expressed interest in keeping him in Detroit. Plus, we’ll talk about other trade bait the Wings have available. This will be a hefty topic, so keep that mindful when submitting a reader question!
