How do the RAF mentally train their pilots? What can you learn from it and use in your everyday life? Building mental strength is a crucial aspect of being a member of the Royal Air Force (RAF). Mental strength enables individuals to cope with the demands and challenges of military life, including high-pressure situations, long deployments, and the need to make quick decisions under stress. The RAF recognizes the importance of mental resilience and provides various resources and training programs to support its personnel in developing and maintaining mental strength. To find a solution to our questions about mindset and building mental-strength in the RAF we invited Alun Pepper. He has had a career as a fast jet navigator in the RAF. He has a MSc in psychology, with a specialisation in leveraging human capability through human performance optimisation.
