Featuring highlights from ABB’s Decoded podcast, it serves as a reality check of what needs to be done to meet the UN goals, with ABB research showing that wastewater treatment capacity needs to increase annually by 8.56 billion cubic meters – which means investment in an additional 469 treatment facilities per year. Two specialists from ABB discuss the water scarcity crisis - in which 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water, more than 4.2 billion people lack safely managed sanitation, and a staggering 80 percent of wastewater flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or reused - and how technology can help solve it.
