Pentecost: The Church’s Gathering in the Upper Room, . . . Traditionally, in certain regions, Pentecost Sunday is referred to as White Sunday. But wait, why is it called White Sunday when priests wear red and the Holy Spirit, symbolized by fire and the color red, is honored? The explanation for this can be found in the first part of the Homily. Pentecost Sunday is a day of miracles. Many Christians are familiar with the story of the Apostles being understood by people of all languages. However, the miracle was not that the Apostles spoke in multiple tongues. The true miracle lay in the act of hearing. Despite the presence of numerous cultures and languages, the people heard and understood the message spoken by the Apostles.
