I Am, Who Am! What is God Telling Us When He Tells Moses His Name? In the first reading (not included within this audio), we experience the profound encounter between Moses and God at the burning bush. Moses has been chosen for a mission to free his people in Egypt, but he is unsure about how to refer to God when he speaks to the Hebrews and Egyptians. Surprisingly, despite the Hebrews’ long history with God, they seem to have lost a deeper understanding of Him. The Scripture reminds us that while God remains faithful to His covenant forever, His people often forget their relationship with Him. This serves as an essential lesson for us. Not only can worldly pleasures lead us astray, but even hardships can distance us from knowing God. Interestingly, during tough times, some turn to God, while others turn away. God’s title as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob emphasizes His enduring connection with individuals even before their birth. Moses is still in need of a name to call God, and God responds intriguingly, saying, “I Am, Who Am!” This enigmatic name holds deep significance and invites us to contemplate its meaning. For a more in-depth understanding of what God is conveying through this name, it is suggested to listen further in this Meditation Media.
