Our Lady’s and St. Dominic’s Message: You Matter in Infinite Ways (TA) Our Lady’s and St. Dominic’s Message: . . . On the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary the afternoon’s conference focuses on how the Rosary unites us. The talk focuses on the significance of the Rosary, with a particular emphasis on the teachings of St. Dominic and the role of the Virgin Mary in guiding individuals toward a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ. St. Dominic uses the Rosary in his teachings. He’s using the Rosary as a way of rooting the basic elements, the basic narrative of the faith in the hearts of the people. But as he’s doing it, he’s also teaching them that in your prayer, don’t think first about what you want. Think first about learning what is pleasing to God. . . . You Matter in Infinite Ways First, I pray in the Spirit of Christ, and then, like Christ, I turn to my Mother, even as I continue to look at Him. Our speaking to Mary is at the service of my learning to see and know and understand the truth of Jesus Christ. This is why the Rosary is spiritually so very powerful. This is why the Rosary is morally so transformative. Because as Dominic taught the people, you become not what you see, you become who you see. When Our Lady is with us, when she is present, she causes the face of her son to shine forth more brightly and more clearly. The Fruit of Praying the Rosary Our Lady helps us when we are conscious of being with Her as we meditate on the mysteries. Our Lady is that one who’s not just convinced that they’re great, she knows the greatness of the mysteries of her son, because she treasures each and every one of them in her heart. And so, from that treasury where she considers all things, she begins to instruct us out of the treasury of her consideration of the greatness of her son. The real fruit, in no small measure of praying the Rosary regularly, is a double fruit. It’s the fruit of coming to know Jesus Christ so well, that I can become more like him. I become who I see. But for that to be true, I have to see him. I have to rightly see him. But it also means that my heart itself becomes something of a storeroom, something of a treasury just like Our Lady’s. You Matter in an Infinite Way And when St. Dominic tells people it matters what you do, what he’s really saying to them is you matter. You matter in an infinite way. And what you do matters. How you live matters. And if it matters that much, maybe we want to get it right. And so he would say to them, let’s start with this. Let’s start with the Rosary. And in no small measure precisely because it is a chain. Not the chain that prisoners wear, not a chain that enslaves, but a chain that joins. A chain that unites. And this chain of Hail Marys and this chain of mysteries is at the service of uniting our lives more. Listen more to this Conference on the Rosary.
