Om episode

On June 10th, 1912, the brutally murdered bodies of 8 people, 2 adults and 6 children, were found inside a family home in Iowa. To this day it remains a mystery as to who committed this murder. The house was occupied by the Moore family. The Moore family was headed by local businessman, Josiah B. Moore. He was married to Sarah Moore and had 4 children. Herman, Mary, Arthur and Paul. In 1903 Josiah would move his family into a 3 bedroom home on 2nd street in Villisca, Iowa not too far from Des Moines. Unfortunately despite all the potential leads it never got resolved. To this day no one has ever been convicted for the crime. If there are any cases you want me to cover from North, Central or south America, please email americanmurderstoriespodcast@gmail.comFor updates please follow:Instagram - American Murder Stories Sources! The Villisca Axe Murders | Iowa Cold CasesVillisca Axe Murders, The 1912 Massacre That Left 8 Dead (allthatsinteresting.com)The Town History of Villisca, Iowa (villiscaiowa.com)The Ax Murderer Who Got Away | History| Smithsonian MagazineUnsolved Villisca Axe Murders of 1912 - Historic MysteriesSerial Suspects: Who Committed the Villisca Axe Murders?
