(00:00-03:41) – Greg Rakestraw hosts another edition of Soccer Saturday this week and opens the show previewing who you will be hearing from during the hour and previews the September calendar for the boys in blue. (06:43-25:46) – Head Coach Martin Rennie returns to the show to go over the loss on Wednesday at Louisville City, walks you through the timeline in which Matt Watson informed Coach Rennie that he wasn’t going to play on Wednesday, and how he help bridges the cultural divides as a coach in the locker room while also seeing how much closer the team becomes when they come together to talk about racial injustice. (28:46-39:42) – The Indy Eleven re-signed Josh Penn, an Indiana University alumnus, to become a full time professional soccer player earlier this week and stops by once again on the program to explain why he chose to forgo the rest of his collegiate career and get a head start on his professional career. Penn also accessed the improvements he has made from playing with the team last year to now and goes back in time to relive the moment of playing on a professional soccer team at the age of 18. (42:44-53:40) – During this segment of Soccer Saturday, Greg plays a couple of snippets from a conversation Greg had with Matt Watson on June 13th on this show in regards to social injustice. Watson discussed how the George Floyd incident affected the Indy Eleven locker room because the message he delivered fits the bill for what just happened with Jacob Blake and how people are becoming more comfortable with speaking up on how black lives matter . (56:40-58:19) – Greg wraps up the show by giving his thoughts on which Lionel Messi will end up in once he is out of Manchester City and reminds you of the next match for the Indy Eleven.
