In 1982, at age 27, Fred ”Chico” Lager had already grown tired of running his nightclub. The little ice cream shop around the corner needed help, so he joined in with the owners, two guys named Ben and Jerry. A global brand ensued, with Chico as CEO. Chico eventually talked about all of this in his book ”The Inside Scoop.” Over twenty years later, The Spaniard discovered the book, loved it and tracked down Chico. Now you get to hear some of the stories: Feeding Henny Youngman’s audience, racing against time in a VW van, doing what the bankers said couldn’t be done, and being the first to put cookie dough in ice cream.
