Series 2 Episode 1 - Mark Diamond

Welcome to The Engineer a Career Podcast!

To kick off Series 2, Josh is joined by Mark Diamond, the Scottish Graduate Apprentice of the Year 2024.

Mark left school in 2020 and joined Aggreko as a Graduate Apprentice in Electrical Power Engineering. Since then, he has completed his apprenticeship, achieved a First-Class BEng (Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University, and now works as an Electrical Engineer.

In this episode, Mark shares his journey from leaving school to securing a graduate apprenticeship with Aggreko, reflecting on the experiences that have shaped his career so far. From working at the Commonwealth Games to the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia, his story highlights the global opportunities available through apprenticeships.

Josh and Mark also discuss the different pathways into engineering, the importance of hands-on experience, and Mark's advice for students considering an apprenticeship.

If you're looking to understand how apprenticeships can kickstart an engineering career or want to hear firsthand insights from an award-winning graduate apprentice, this episode is for you!
