True Crime Australia: The Lawyer, The Lovers, and The Family Murders

A decades-long investigation tears open one of Australia's darkest chapters: the murder of criminal lawyer Derrance Stevenson and its hidden connection to the "Family Murders", a series of brutal abductions, sexual assaults, and killings of young men in South Australia. David Szach, Stevenson's young lover, has spent 40 years in prison, insisting he's innocent. But as journalists dig deeper, the case splinters into something far more sinister. Police suspect a small network of influential men orchestrated the Family Murders, with accountant Bevan Von Einem convicted for one killing while shadows of complicity stretch toward others, including the victim himself.

The investigation unearths allegations of blackmail, hidden criminal pasts, and filmed exploitation. Associates like Gino Gambardella emerge from the periphery. Relationships fracture under scrutiny. And the question haunting every thread: was Stevenson predator, victim, or both? What begins as a fight to exonerate one man becomes a reckoning with institutional silence, buried evidence, and the men who may have gotten away with murder.
