You Don’t Need Strict Daily Routines to Overcome Anxiety

Many people believe strict routines are essential for managing anxiety. Yes, some routines can be helpful, especially those that make you feel fulfilled. But they are not essential for recovery (despite the claims by some ‘anxiety healers’ online).

In fact, rigid routines can sometimes make anxiety worse. I used to be stuck in a strict schedule of meditation, diet, and exercise, always trying to go to bed on time, all in the hopes of keeping my anxiety under control.

But instead of finding relief, I became more anxious than ever. The more I obsessed over my routine, the more my anxiety grew. It was only when I let go of this rigidity that I began to heal.

When I understood the real principles of recovery, I started accepting chaos and unpredictability instead of constantly avoiding triggers. Because the key to true recovery is learning to regulate your thoughts and emotions.

I’ve learned that. And you can, too.

Yes, you can enjoy spontaneous adventures and live your life to the fullest despite your anxiety. And you won’t need daily routines for that.
