Japanese Crime - The Setagaya Murders: Terror at the Turn of the Century

While the rest of Japan celebrated the prestigious holiday known as Omisoka, a series of unsettling events began to shadow the household. A mysterious car had been seen parked outside on multiple occasions, and a man in a skater's outfit was spotted lurking at a nearby station just days before.

Despite the festive cheer in the air, the silence of their isolated street was heavy with a threat they did not see. On the night of December 30, the telephone lines were severed, and the house became a quiet trap. What followed in the dark hours of that winter night would stump investigators for decades and turn a season of fresh starts into an enduring nightmare.

The silence of the house on New Year's morning was like a heavy, frozen lake that appeared calm on the surface while hiding a dark and jagged reality beneath the ice.
