Tracy also speaks on mental illness and how likes and artificial validation can impact the wellbeing of social media users. Many countries have rolled out Instagram and Facebook updates that do not display likes in hopes of improving the mental wellness of their population. By putting the focus on the content and not the popularity, frustration based on verification can be lessened. Additionally, nearly every platform punishes those who post more than once in a day. This is designed to make room for everyone to get that validation.
Tracy’s best practices for being good digital citizens include being balanced when you post. Don’t focus too much on pushing yourself. Try engaging someone else outside of your circle and verify their ideas. Not only is it a good business decision, it helps foster a healthy community. Beyond that, Tracy shares that by 2021, you will virtually need to be on social media to be hired. This means inclusiveness.
