5. Creating a Short Film Part 1: Nailing Down the Story – Elijah

Hello friends, welcome back to The Improve Podcast!

In this episode you meet Elijah, a senior in film school who is producing a short film a part of that program. We connected on Reddit’s r/Screenwriting and now I’m writing his film! How cool is that?

This is one of our first meetings where we were still working out the major plot points of the story. Hopefully it’s easy enough to follow a long, and not that confusing. But it is a behind the scenes look at the creative process, which is what I promised!

I hope you found it at least a little bit interesting and maybe it even gives you the motivation to start your own passion project!

As you can probably tell, neither of us know exactly what we are doing. We are trying to write a movie, and trying to make it as coherent and compelling as possible. That takes a lot of work, especially for a couple of novices. But we are trying. And we are learning! Which is the whole point of this podcast. To improve at our craft, our passion projects, in the hopes that we will become successful one day.

It's these types of conversations that inspires me. Just a couple of dreamers hoping to take over the world. This isn’t clean, it isn’t polished. It’s raw and it’s real. I hope it inspires you too.
