How One Kiwi Changed Fishing Forever — The Rise of JetSkiFishing

Andrew Hill is one of the true pioneers of JetSki fishing in New Zealand. Nearly two decades ago, when most people thought it was reckless or impossible, Andrew began converting JetSkis into capable offshore fishing platforms —laying the groundwork for what has now become a global movement.

In this episode of Get The Net, Andrew shares thefull journey — from early DIY modifications to working directly with Sea-Doo on the development of the FishPro and ST3 hull. We dive into softbaiting from a JetSki, how to read conditions when you’ve only got one shot, and why JetSki fishing forces you to be more deliberate, efficient, and aware on the water.

Beyond the gear and techniques, this is a story aboutcommunity. Andrew talks about the events, rides, and friendships that have formed around JetSki fishing — creating a space where people learn together, fish together, and build connections that last well beyond a day on the water.
