The King of Curling ft. Niklas Edin

The King of Curling ft. Niklas Edin

The Tim Hortons Brier is just around the corner, Kevin and Warren provide their best bets to win it all plus a couple of intriguing long shots. For all the latest curling odds, check out Sports Interaction.

Team Homan second Joanne Courtney is stepping back from competitive curling at the end of the season and the guys discuss her decision. Also, the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling announced its 2022-23 schedule, Warren runs through the dates and locations while Kevin explains how communities are selected to host events.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, there has been a call for sporting organizations to withdraw events from the country and suspend Russian athletes from competitions. Our Hot Rocks Topic looks at the measures the World Curling Federation have taken and what more can be done.

Could pre-positioned neutral stones be used in four-player team curling? The guys answer that question in our Mailbag segment as it’s something Warren has pondered and Kevin recalls a time in the mid-1990s when it was actually used in an event.

No rest for the best, Kevin takes us back to 1992 in Storytime when his team went straight from the Winter Olympics to the Brier and almost reached the final while playing on fumes.

Niklas Edin joins the show to talk about the relief of finally winning the elusive Olympic gold medal, what he’s been up to since returning home from Beijing, the future of his team, how his win will impact the growth of Swedish curling and the fairytale of progressing each step up the Olympic podium. Niklas is also preparing to represent Sweden at the world championship in Las Vegas and shares his thoughts on the no-tick rule that will be given a test run at the tournament.
