Singer Akon Slapped in Cuffs on Way to World Tour

Akon, the singer and philanthropist, was arrested in November 2025 on a bench warrant in the parking lot of a window tint business. The Grammy-nominated artist, whose legal name is Aliaune Akon Thiam, was driving on a suspended license. Akon told the Chamblee Police officers that he thought his warrant for a failure to appear had been addressed. The interaction with police was recorded by body-worn cameras as Akon and his wife were preparing to travel to India for his tour.
