While advocates emphasize the importance of delving into records and holding accountable anyone who broke Illinois law, Republican lawmakers like House Minority Leader Tony McCombie acknowledged the gravity of Epstein’s crimes but questioned whether a state commission can effectively parallel federal criminal probes. Procedural hurdles loom, as the bill was filed after a legislative deadline and may not advance until later sessions.
