IN CONVERSATION: Florence Given

Happy Thursday everybody!!! Today, we bring you the enigmatic Florence Given. For the unacquainted, Florence is nothing short of a force to be reckoned with. The 21-year-old feminist illustrator, writer, and activist released her debut book, Women Don’t Owe You Pretty, in June this year, and has gone on to become a number one Sunday Times bestseller. Florence now has a social media following of more than half a million people, and has single-handedly carved out one of the most engaged spaces for the queer community online. In this chat, we go from Florence’s turbulent high school experience, to what she would change about social media if she was given a chance. For more from Florence, follow her on Instagram @florencegiven, and grab a copy of her incredible book, Women Don’t Owe You Pretty, right here. Happy Monday wonderful people! Coming up on today’s episode: the influencer who ended her career by uploading the wrong Youtube video. Plus, the New York Times wants you to get “strong” for your wedding day, but by “strong” we’re pretty sure they mean “skinny”. Also, what’s with all these television reboots? IN CONVERSATION: Georgie Dent

IN CONVERSATION: Georgie Dent

Today on the show we have the warm, generous and stupidly clever Georgie Dent. Georgie is a former lawyer, a journalist, an old editor of ours and the author of the new and best-selling memoir, Breaking Badly. At 24, things were going pretty good for Georgie. She’d landed a job at a prestigious Sydney law firm, was living with her boyfriend and had so much head of her. But, in her own words, she broke. By 25, Georgie was unemployed, back living with her parents and suffering such crippling anxiety that she ended up in a psychiatric hospital. To quote the book’s own blurb, Breaking Badly is the story of a nervous breakdown in slow motion. This is Georgie's story. Shameless is a production of Shameless Media.
