Douglas Irwin on tariffs in America and the Supreme Court case (Episode 14)

Douglas Irwin on tariffs in America and the Supreme Court case (Episode 14)

Since President Donald Trump took office for his second term, he has imposed a flurry of tariffs that have reached historic levels. These include blanket tariffs against goods from all countries, which are being challenged at the Supreme Court. Update: The Supreme Court ruled on February 20, 2026, that the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorize the president to impose tariffs.

Renowned trade scholar Douglas A. Irwin joins host Anjali V. Bhatt to shed light on how monumental Trump's tariffs are, the Supreme Court ruling against tariffs, and why Trump's use of tariffs is different now than at any other point in history.
