#37 - Sandy Karman - Graphic artist, poster artist, graphic designer, art director & illustrator.

Occasional painter and university guest lecturer. Born in 1983 in Jakarta, a graduate from Visual Communication Design - Bandung Institute of Technology in 2005 receiving 2nd place of Ganesha Prize. Having worked for Total Design (Amsterdam) in 2004, Leo Burnett Design and Ogilvy One (Jakarta) respectively from 2005 - 2007 and done in-resident workshops with Prof. Ahn Sang Soo and Kim Do-Hyung (Seoul) in 2010, Makoto Saito (Tokyo) in 2011, and poster exhibition workshops UG. Sato (Tokyo - No More Fukushima/Kuwasawa Design School) in 2011, and Kan Tai Keung (Shanghai - Shanghai State Library/Shanghai 1st Visual Design Biennial) in 2011.

Being the first Indonesian whose works have been exhibited in Paris La Fête du Graphisme (The Graphic Art Festival) and some prestigious museums such as The Museum of Modern Art Toyama, The Poster Museum Warsaw, Poster Museum Lahti, Hong Kong Heritage Museum in international poster biennials and triennials worldwide, as well as other international graphic design exhibitions. Solo shows such as A Post(er): Sandy Karman Poster Exhibition and Sandy Karman: Tribute to Indonesian Heroes.
