#105 - Tammy van Wisse - Australia’s Golden Girl

Tammy van Wisse is a marathon swimmer who has broken 6 World Records (currently holds 5) and has accomplished nearly everything there is to do in the sport.

Tammy is a true Aussie hero. She has ticked off marathon swims such as The English Channel twice, the Murray River (a 106 consecutive day swim) and New York City to Sandy Hook where she broke an 81 year record. And Tammy takes us behind the scenes for those milestone events.

As well as sharing those incredible moments with us, we learnt so much more about what really goes into making these dreams not only into reality but world records.

Tammy shared with us where it all began and the amazing sacrifice her parents made to make her dreams come true. As well as the unbelievable lengths she went to to stay focused during swims. Including memorising full music playlists and entire movies to keep her mind relaxed when competing.

We hear about the work that is done that you just wouldn’t consider when attempting these incredible challenges. Like raising money, choppy weather, illness, purposely putting on weight and even a story about the Australian swimming legend Dawn Fraser breaking her ribs diving into the water to save the day!

You will be encapsulated by Tammy’s lovely nature as she reminisces and inspires us all to chase what we want in our own lives. Even if the goals seem out of reach, Tammy proves it really is all mindset.

So here she is. The absolute Aussie legend, Tammy Van Wisse.
