GEN X and the youth - complaining about younger generations - The ultimate "pull-up-the-ladder" move is when the generations (boomers/Gen X) who controlled the economy for the last thirty years mistake modern convenience for actual economic ease. They’ve swapped out long-term stability for the "slim margin" fragility we see today, then have the audacity to call younger people "fragile" for struggling in the wreckage. It’s like building a high-stakes, zero-buffer world and then complaining about the architecture of a house you designed yourself. Blaming the youth for a "lack of discipline" in a game where the deck was stacked before they even sat down at the table. It's not even fair to direct it at the youth. Gen X you used to understand this but somewhere you got angry because things were pulled away from you from the previous generations. It's not the youths' fault that they want something different and better. Gen X you brought us punk, metal, and other great things. Remember that you're doing the outcasting now of the youth that you once so proudly defended.

Slim profit margins/SPIRIT AIRLINES - The Spirit Airlines collapse is just proof that our current version of capitalism is a total house of cards. We’ve spent decades worshipping 'efficiency' and 'slim margins,' but all we really did was trade resilience for a cheap sticker price. Big corporations squeeze small businesses out of existence with prices that are impossible to match, and then the second fuel prices or interest rates jump, the giants go bust anyway because they have zero buffer. It’s a race to the bottom where 'cheap' ends up being the most expensive thing we’ve ever bought. We're not living in an efficient economy; we're living in a fragile one. The collapse of Spirit Airlines is the "canary in the coal mine" for a version of capitalism that has finally eaten itself. For decades, the mantra has been "Efficiency above all else." We’ve been told that "Lean" and "Just-in-Time" are the peaks of business management, but in reality, they’re just fancy words for fragility.
