Digital First: Danielle Butterfield on Infrastructure, Innovation & the Road to 2028

Digital First: Danielle Butterfield on Infrastructure, Innovation & the Road to 2028

What does it take to build a Democratic Party that can actually compete in the digital age?

In this episode, we're joined by Danielle Butterfield, Executive Director of Priorities USA, to discuss how Democrats are still stuck in a TV-first mindset and what it will take to change that. Danielle shares how Priorities is building year-round digital infrastructure through tools, research, training, and digital ad programming, and why the party needs to stop reinventing the wheel every election cycle.

We also talk about what real digital innovation looks like versus just shifting TV dollars to connected TV, how Josh Shapiro's creator strategy serves as a model for what's possible when you build early, and why 2026 is being used as a laboratory for 2028. Danielle also breaks down Priorities' Ohio research targeting young men on YouTube with niche-relevant ads, and why rewarding future-oriented digital expertise needs to become a cultural shift across the Democratic Party.
