No: Vårsolen skinte gjennom de gamle og store vinduene i Bergen Barnehjem.
En: The spring sun shone through the old and large windows of Bergen Barnehjem.

No: Den friske sjøluften fylte rommene, og duften av vårblomster driftet langs den lille hagen utenfor.
En: The fresh sea air filled the rooms, and the scent of spring flowers drifted along the small garden outside.

No: Lars satt ved et bord og stirret ut mot byen som bredte seg utover nedenfor.
En: Lars sat at a table and stared out at the city that spread out below.

No: Han tenkte på fremtiden.
En: He thought about the future.

No: Snart ville han fylle 18 år, og da måtte han forlate barnehjemmet.
En: Soon he would turn 18, and then he would have to leave the orphanage.

No: Lars hadde alltid vært en stille gutt, selvstendig og tilsynelatende likegyldig.
En: Lars had always been a quiet boy, independent and seemingly indifferent.
