135 - Suck That Bad Boy Straight to Hell

Now that Hell has one more Bad Boy, what say we see about a distant dot?

Intro Transcript

"You're telling me the Whisper in Bronze herself came to you in a dream. Hundreds of years ago. Before you were born."

"No. I mean, kind of. It's all muddled--it was Brigh, but it wasn't. And she was magnificent. She wanted to protect me, or protect everyone…."

The description went on and on, full of loops and contradictions and confusion. Brother Behrak watched the android, and animated as he'd ever seen her, while she puzzled through this revelation out loud. And it wasn't that he didn't believe that some other version of her had actually met a god so much that he didn't understand it. Almost nothing his dear friend ever said or did made sense to him really, but he guessed that was sort of her curse. It was obvious Casandalee had some sort of gift for prophecy--but it was rarely clear what direction her visions were going. He didn't envy her one bit. And he did what he could to help, though helping was mostly just sitting there and nodding while she raved without pause. Still…it did seem like she was closing in on something. At least, some of the time.

"So, if I'm right, it's up in Avistan. I'm going to need to get permission from the High Clockmother for a few days off for research--you'll come with me, of course. We're going to need maps. It must be a thousand miles away! Maybe more! Can you imagine--I mean, the world is so huge, and if I'm right, I've seen a huge piece of it already, I just need to remember."

Behrak stopped smiling. He wasn't sure when he'd agreed to take time away from his duties helping maintain Alkenstar City's impossibly complex system of clockworks in order to research…Avistan? He realized now that he must have drifted off and stopped paying attention. What did Casandalee need those maps for?
