9: Avoiding your feelings can cause food struggles, bad habits, and health issues: The impact of numbing behaviors

You often wish you could have more “willpower” to stick to healthy habits and stop self-sabotaging, but what you are actually needing is often emotional regulation. Sticking to what’s good for you becomes effortless when you learn how to feel, process, and release your emotions without needing any coping mechanisms outside of yourself. This one skill can completely change your ability to take care of yourself and your health in general! Numbing behaviors are normalized in society, so opening your heart and feeling can seem difficult and uncomfortable.
