A Flight Attendant’s Fears, a Controlling Husband, and a Disappearance Ignored

In 1987, Regina Brown—a devoted mother and flight attendant—was doing everything she could to escape. She had already sent two of her children to Texas for safety, and on March 26th, she put the last of her three on a plane. That was the last time anyone saw her.

Before she vanished, Regina had confided in a friend: If something happened to her, if she disappeared, look to her husband first. She knew what he was capable of. And yet, despite her chilling warning, her case never received the attention it deserved. Regina was a Black woman, and unlike another high-profile case involving a white pilot and his murdered flight attendant wife, her disappearance was met with indifference.

This week, we share Regina’s story—her fears, her fight for freedom, and the injustice of how her case was handled.

She would then join the cast of Wonder Woman 1984 as one of the Amazonian Women. It was on the set of this blockbuster movie where she captured her inner strength and power and truly took stock of what it meant to be a real-life Wonder Woman. She pushed the boundaries of her physical and mental strength while mastering her craft as an actor, transcending her experience into her everyday endeavors and passion projects
