In Life: Most people spend 99% of their time thinking about their own problems. The "scandal" you are so worried about is just a 5-minute conversation to them, and then they move on.
In Death: It sounds harsh, but it is true: at your funeral, people will cry, tell stories, and then they will go eat lunch and complain about the weather. Within a month, life will go on without you. If they are going to move on so quickly, why sacrifice your decades of life to please them?
The Puppet Master: When you live for the opinions of others, you are a puppet. You let someone else pull the strings of your happiness. If they applaud, you feel good; if they frown, you collapse. This is slavery. To be free, you must cut the strings and decide that your self-worth is non-negotiable.
The Critique vs. The Arena: Usually, the people with the most opinions are the ones doing the least with their lives. Critics watch from the cheap seats; do not let them dictate how you play the game in the arena.
