✍️ Today's tale is by Author Michael Byrne, who shares this dark folklore with us this week. An age-old lesson to always be wary of crossing faery kind. This husband and wife learn what it means to get what you wish for.

Michael Byrne is originally from Rochdale, Lancashire, and is now based in London; he writes folklore and horror-infused fiction.

His work has been featured in Scribble Magazine, Pseudopod Podcast, and Strange Days Zine, and he regularly contributes to the folklore-themed zine Myth & Lore. His latest short story, written in the Lancashire dialect, earned the Best Fiction award from the Edwin Waugh Society.

He was also recently shortlisted for the V.S Pritchett Short Story Award, gaining praise from authors Juliet Jacques and Julia Armfield.
