Golladay Weekend (guest: Jason Wood)

Golladay Weekend (guest: Jason Wood)

After announcing a contest to win an entry into the 12th annual Scott Fish Bowl, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes Jason Wood (@fbgwood) of Footballguys.com. A longtime Eagles season ticketholder, Jason offers his thoughts on Philadelphia’s trade for A.J. Brown and what it means for the Eagles’ offense. How much does the addition of AJB boost the fantasy value of Jalen Hurts, how much does it diminish the value of DeVonta Smith, and what does it do for Brown himself? Jason and Pat also take a look at the Giants. Will new head coach Brian Daboll pump life into a moribund offense? Are Kenny Golladay or any of the other NYG receivers values at their modest cost? And what should we make of Saquon Barkley?

Jason talks about his teenage sons’ relationship with pro sports, the quality of pizza in New Jersey, and the TV shows “Atlanta” and “Tokyo Vice.” He also names some of the players he’s targeting and avoiding in 2022 drafts, and he and Pat discuss the fantasy value of the Chiefs’ wide receivers.

Boone or Bust (guest: Justin Boone)

Boone or Bust (guest: Justin Boone)

This is a BIG week of fantasy drafts, so host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in another heavy-hitting guest, Justin Boone (@justinboone) of TheScore.com. Justin and Pat open with a meditation on Preseason Week 1, focusing on the shifting tectonics of the Miami RB situation and the increasing appeal of the Denver offense. Justin and Pat compare notes on a couple of players they have ranked above consensus (Tua Tagovailoa and D.J. Moore) and debate a few players on whom they disagree (Chris Carson, Robby Anderson, Ryan Fitzpatrick.  Justin has finished in the top seven of the FantasyPros in-season accuracy competition for seven straight years. Pat asks Justin about his rankings process – not how he builds rankings and projections, but where in the house he works, what he listens to while doing it and how long it takes him. Justin and Pat also compare notes on their in-season rankings anxiety. Finally, Justin and Pat talk about favorite late-round dart throws, and Justin names players he’s avoiding and players he doesn’t want to leave drafts without.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Justin Boone (@justinboone)                   Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. On the Receiving End (guest: Matt Harmon)

On the Receiving End (guest: Matt Harmon)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is Matt Harmon (@MattHarmon_BYB) of Yahoo Sports and ReceptionPerception.com. Despite being FantasyPros’ reigning accuracy champ for draft rankings, Matt has a fraught relationship with fantasy rankings. He and Pat discuss the shortcomings of rankings and projections, and Matt talks about how he generally likes to construct his teams. Then it’s a heavy dose of wide receiver talk, with Matt offering thoughts on Michael Pittman, Brandon Aiyuk, the Steelers’ WR trio, CeeDee Lamb and, on a less enthusiastic note, Jalen Reagor. (Sorry, Eagles fans.) Matt and Pat also take a closer look at the San Francisco and Pittsburgh offenses and elaborate on why decoding them is so important for fantasy managers this year.  Matt talks about the adjustment to a two-dog household and his unlikely source for great cooking tips. Then it’s more receiver talk, with Matt weighing in on longtime Harmon favorite Tyler Lockett, underrated Jakobi Meyers, hipster darling Laviska Shenault, and rookies Elijah Moore and Rashod Bateman.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Matt Harmon (@MattHarmon_BYB)     Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. Isn’t It Good, Norwegian Woods (guest: Scott Pianowski)

Isn’t It Good, Norwegian Woods (guest: Scott Pianowski)

August is upon us, and with the heart of fantasy draft season dead ahead, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in Scott Pianowski (@scott_pianowski) of Yahoo Fantasy. Scott shares his philosophy on how to value injured players, and he and Pat discuss what to do with Michael Thomas and how to value Jonathan Taylor and other Colts now that Carson Wentz and Quenton Nelson are hurt. In Scott’s world, steady, undervalued, profitable veterans are referred to as Raul Ibanez All-Stars – a hat tip to the ever-reliable MLB slugger. Perhaps the NFL equivalent should be the Robert Woods All-Stars. Who besides Woods offers dependable, unsexy value, and why are those types of players so important? Scott and Pat drop some names.  Scott recaps his recent golf trip and explains how golf helped get him through the pandemic. There’s also some musical conversation, of course, with Scott explaining why John Lennon is his favorite Beatle and assessing the career of George Harrison. Scott and Pat talk about “Hard Knocks” and this year’s featured team, the Cowboys. Who’s likely to be the more valuable WR – Amari Cooper or CeeDee Lamb? And how early is too early to draft Ezekiel Elliott? Scott and Pat debate who should go 1.03 in drafts, and Scott weighs in on Damien Harris, Jakobi Meyers and D’Andre Swift.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Scott Pianowski (@scott_pianowski)      Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. Jonny and Clyde (guest: Shawn Siegele)

Jonny and Clyde (guest: Shawn Siegele)

With NFL training camps opening in full this week, RotoViz co-owner and Zero-RB innovator Shawn Siegele (@FF_Contrarian) joins host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) to cover a wide array of fantasy topics. Is Jonathan Taylor ready to become a fantasy ultra-back? Shawn offers compelling reasons to take Taylor in the middle of the first round. Although he wasn’t pleased that his Chiefs drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire over Taylor, Shawn lays out a scenario where CEH could gain significant fantasy value in 2021 and also expresses enthusiasm for J.K. Dobbins, Antonio Gibson and D’Andre Swift. Shawn talks about his new podcast with RotoViz alumnus Ben Gretch and offers some thoughts on polarizing tennis star Novak Djokovic.  In his Scott Fish Bowl draft, Shawn took Cam Akers late in the third round and didn’t take another RB until the 15th round. The six running backs he took in the last eight rounds are among his favorite Zero-RB targets. Find out which cheap RBs he went after. Shawn also explains why he’s high on Logan Thomas and discusses his Tyler Boyd and Henry Ruggs selections. Shawn and Pat talk about the fallout from the Akers injury and discuss possible ripple effects of the Michael Thomas injury. Do you believe the WR position is deep? Shawn and Pat believe that’s a fallacy and offer reasons why. There’s also some talk about whether any of the Chiefs’ WRs other than Tyreek Hill offer compelling fantasy potential.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Shawn Siegele (@FF_Contrarian)           Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. Ginn and Tonic (guest: John Paulsen)

Ginn and Tonic (guest: John Paulsen)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is one of his closest friends in the fantasy media, John Paulsen (@4for4_John) of 4for4.com. John and Pat start by pouring one out for Ted Ginn Jr. a longtime favorite of John’s who just announced his retirement after 14 NFL seasons. Then the conversation turns to young quarterbacks, with John and Pat taking opposite sides on Trevor Lawrence and assessing the outlooks for Zach Wilson and Tua Tagovailoa. There’s some talk about the Denver RB situation, with Pat touting Melvin Gordon as a potential value even with rookie Javonte Williams threatening Gordon’s workload. John and Pat also discuss Darren Waller and George Kittle.  As natives of Southeastern Wisconsin, John and Pat have been closely following the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff run, and they compare notes on Bucks fandom and the franchise’s tortured playoff history. Pat also asks John about one of his former basketball coaches at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Greg Gard, who’s now the head coach at the University of Wisconsin and whose strained relationship with some of his players recently became a national story. John offers a few musical recommendations, and then John and Pat discuss the Scott Fish Bowl and the DataForce charity draft they’ve been doing together, with some conversation about Cam Akers, Julio Jones, Terry McLaurin, Michael Thomas, Jaylen Waddle and Dionte Johnson. John and Pat also talk about their beloved Green Bay Packers, assessing the Aaron Rodgers situation, examining the value of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, and trying to peg the Packers’ WR hierarchy behind Davante Adams. Maine Man (guest: Matt Kelley)

Maine Man (guest: Matt Kelley)

Host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) relinquishes control of the show by bringing on everyone’s favorite alpha podcaster, Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) of PlayerProfiler.com. After some discussion about how long a slow draft should take, Matt sheds light on his Scott Fish Bowl draft so far, talking about how the power of stacking pushed him toward an Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams combo. The desire to stack also has Matt targeting Rashod Bateman later in his SFB draft to pair with Lamar Jackson, but the allure of Bateman is about more than just stacking. Matt explains why he drafted Trey Sermon even though he’s not a fan of coach-based analytics and is downplaying the Kyle Shanahan factor, and he makes the case that Miles Sanders is being undervalued.  Matt and Pat talk about the “RB dead zone” and how not all dead zone RBs are alike. Matt sings the praises of Saints TE Adam Trautman and makes the case that he’s a better play than Irv Smith Jr. Matt also talks about what it was like to grow up in north-central Maine, and he uses the power of analytics to make the case for backing into parking spaces.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion)           Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. Slye Like a Fox (guest: Rumboyz Robbie)

Slye Like a Fox (guest: Rumboyz Robbie)

It’s Scott Fish Bowl week! Helping host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) celebrate this fantasy-industry holiday is Rumboyz Robbie (@RumboyzR) of the Rumboyz Fantasy Network. Robbie and Pat talk about their very different #SFB11 positional strategies, the valuation of quarterbacks in Scott Fish’s unique QB scoring system, and the kicker who seems destined to end up on Robbie’s team since Robbie once coached him in youth football. Pat and Robbie size up the Broncos from a fantasy perspective, discussing whether the Denver QB situation should discourage interest in Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Noah Fant, and digging into the positional battle at RB between veteran Melvin Gordon and rookie Javonte Williams.  Robbie talks about life in Colorado Springs, his first foray into fantasy sports, the growth of the Rumboyz Fantasy Network, and his favorite hip-hop and ‘90s rock artists. He also names a few of his favorite 2021 draft targets and a few potential bear traps. Robbie and Pat also discuss Michael Thomas and the Saints’ QB situation, size up the Cardinals’ backfield, evaluate the recent Mecole Hardman hype, and even work in a little Josh Gordon conversation.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Rumboyz Robbie (@RumboyzR)            Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices. Check, Please (guest: Mike Tagliere)

Check, Please (guest: Mike Tagliere)

On this week’s episode, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) catches up with newly minted Tennesseean Mike Tagliere (MikeTagliereNFL) of FantasyPros.com. What most surprises Tags these days when he surveys ADP information and expert rankings? He makes the case that Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Lamar Jackson are being severely undervalued. Tags, a Bears fan, and Pat, a Packers fan, discuss their two teams from a fantasy perspective. Tags offers his thoughts on Justin Fields, David Montgomery and Darnell Mooney, and Tags and Pat profess their shared belief that Aaron Rodgers won’t hold out or be traded, and that Davante Adams shouldn’t be faded due to Rodgers’ uncertain status.  Tag explains why he and his family moved to Tennessee and makes an observation about the different pace in his new homeland. There’s some discussion about Chicago pizza, and Tags talks about his quixotic quest to obtain the blue check mark signifying Twitter verification. With the Scott Fish Bowl drafts kicking off next week, there is, of course, a bit of SFB conversation. Tags throws some cold water on the rampant enthusiasm for Cam Akers and Antonio Gibson, explains why the defenestration of Adam Gase has him interested in several Jets, and becomes the second straight guest to enthusiastically endorse Mike Williams.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Mike Tagliere (@MikeTagliereNFL)       Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  In association with TheFootballGirl.com  Music provided by International Jet Set   Learn more about your ad choices.
