Adios, Amigos (guest: Matt Waldman)

Adios, Amigos (guest: Matt Waldman)

In the 222nd and FINAL episode of Fitz on Fantasy host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Matt Waldman (@MattWaldman), senior staff writer at Footballguys and the creator of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio (available at MattWaldmanRSP.com). Matt talks about top QB prospects C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, and Anthony Richardson, and why he’s particularly fond of Richardson. He also expresses concerns about the mechanical issues that could hold back Will Levis. Matt has an interesting two-player mashup comp for Bijan Robinson that could quicken heart rates. Matt explains why he was initially slow to come around on Jahmyr Gibbs and why he’s excited by Tyjae Spears’ slippery power. He also offers an endorsement of polarizing RB prospect Zach Evans.

Before there was a galaxy of fantasy football podcasts to choose from, there was The Audible Live, the long-running Footballguys fantasy podcast featuring Matt, Sigmund Bloom, Cecil Lammey, and Dr. Jene Bramel. Matt talks about how he wound up becoming a regular on the show and why the cast has such good chemistry. Matt compares Jaxson Smith-Njigba to his former Ohio State teammates Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave. Matt and Pat also discuss Zay Flowers, University of Tennessee teammates Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman, and an alarming concern with Quentin Johnston. Matt discusses the NFL outlook for Dalton Kincaid and provides an elevator pitch for relatively unheralded TE prospect Luke Schoonmaker.

Pat closes the podcast by bringing in his producer, Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland), to discuss the origins of Fitz on Fantasy, how Colm became Pat’s producer, their in-person meeting last summer at the Fantasy Football Expo, the fantasy football community in the United Kingdom, and Colm’s podcast, RotoViz Overtime. Then, Pat signs off for the last time, offering some thank-yous on his way out.

A Wolf at the Door (guest: The Wolf of Roto Street)

A Wolf at the Door (guest: The Wolf of Roto Street)

On the heels of one of the weirdest, wildest, most unnavigable weeks of fantasy football in recent memory, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in Nick Traicoff, a.k.a. The Wolf of Roto Street, to sift through the wreckage. After a show-opening damage assessment, Wolf and Pat discuss Jeff Wilson, Gabriel Davis, Devin Singletary, Rhamondre Stevenson, Amari Cooper and the struggling Arizona Cardinals. Wolf talks about his day job as a special-ed teacher and his life as a Boston sports fan. Pat puts Wolf on the spot and asks him for his hierarchy of Boston sports teams and his Mount Rushmore of Boston athletes.  Who should be the TE1 in 2022 drafts? The Wolf weighs in and also offers his thoughts on Saquon Barkley’s 2022 value. Wolf and Pat review the rookie QBs and measure their level of certainty (or lack thereof) that each will develop into a quality NFL starter. Wolf and Pat also discuss D’Onta Foreman and Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Wolf lists some of his biggest hits and misses of 2021.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: The Wolf of Roto Street (@RotoStreetWolf)            Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set  Learn more about your ad choices. The Artful Dodger (guest: Jorge Martin)

With the fantasy playoffs upon us, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Jorge Martin of Familia FFB.com (@jorgemartin17). Jorge and Pat tackle those questions and also discuss Hunter Renfrow, Deebo Samuel and Justin Herbert. A Rams fan, Jorge also offers thoughts on Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel.  Jorge talks about his run as the director of publications for the Los Angeles Dodgers, lists a few of his all-time favorite Dodgers and tells a great story about former Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully. Jorge and Pat also talk Mexican food and classic rock. Who should be the TE1 in 2022 drafts? Should fantasy managers bench Ezekiel Elliott? Jorge and Pat ponder those questions. There’s also some discussion about Amon-Ra St, Brown and Rhamondre Stevenson, and Jorge lists a few of his biggest hits and misses in 2021.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Jorge Martin (@jorgemartin17)                Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set  Learn more about your ad choices. Saved by the Bell (guest: Jeff Bell)

Saved by the Bell (guest: Jeff Bell)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is FantasyPros and Footballguys contributor Jeff Bell (@4WhomJBellTolls). After attending this week’s Chargers-Bengals game in Cincinnati, Jeff offers thoughts on the futures of Bengals WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The big newsmaker of Week 13 was Broncos RB Javonte Williams, and Jeff and Pat examine what the rest of the season holds for Javonte and how his dynasty value compares to that of several other top RBs. A devy and dynasty aficionado, Jeff offers an early look at some off the top 2022 draft prospects at QB, WR and RB, including Matt Corral, Kenny Pickett, Garrett Wilson, Treylon Burks and Kenneth Walker.  Jeff and Pat debate which Smashing Pumpkins song has a better opening – “Adore” or “Cherub Rock” – and spend a few minutes on ’90s rock. A Columbus, Ohio, resident, Jeff extolls the virtues of a couple of local delicacies: buckeyes and Thurmanators. Jeff and Pat discuss the future of Saquon Barkley, assess the value of Elijah Moore, speculate about what happens to the Arizona backfield when Chase Edmonds returns, and talk about Darnell Mooney and Russell Gage. Jeff details some of his biggest hits and misses in 2021, and tells a remarkable tale of woe about his Scott Fish Bowl experience with Cordarrelle Patterson.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Jeff Bell (@4WhomJBellTolls)                Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set  Learn more about your ad choices. From Macbeth to Mac Jones (guest: Joe Pisapia)

Host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in FantasyPros colleague Joe Pisapia (@Joe Pisapia17), host of the FantasyPros Football Podcast and the editor-in-chief of the Black Book fantasy guide. Joe and Pat dissect the Dalvin Cook injury and the value of Alexander Mattison going forward, then discuss the evolution of the RB position in fantasy football. Are Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts destined to be long-term NFL starters? What sort of fantasy value does Clyde Edwards-Helaire have the rest of the way? Is Cordarrelle Patterson still going to be a valuable asset in 2022? Joe and Pat offer their thoughts.  Joe talks about studying Shakespeare at the University of Oxford and teaching stage combat for nearly a decade. In addition to fantasy and sports betting shows, Joe also co-hosts a pro wrestling podcast, and he and Pat talk about the competition between the long-dominant WWE and the upstart AEW. There’s also a little baseball talk, and then Joe and Pat discuss whether the sharpest fantasy football managers have a greater advantage in the COVID-19 era. A Patriots fan, Joe offers his thoughts on Mac Jones, Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson, and Joe details some of his biggest hits and misses of 2021.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Joe Pisapia (@JoePisapia17)                    Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set Learn more about your ad choices. Crown Vic (guest: Victoria Geary)

Crown Vic (guest: Victoria Geary)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is Victoria Geary (@ffb_victoria), co-host of the Footballguys Mailbag Show and a capo in the Bills Mafia. Victoria starts by detailing her Thanksgiving plans – sorry, but they’re probably more fun than yours – and revealing her favorite Thanksgiving foods. Then, Pat and Victoria look into the future and discuss whether Christian McCaffrey or Jonathan Taylor should be the 1.01 in 2022 drafts and whether Ja’Marr Chase or Justin Jefferson should be the WR1 in dynasty leagues. Victoria also attempts to diagnose the Bills’ problems on the heels of their Week 11 loss to the Colts, their third loss in their last five games.   Victoria talks about making the move from Buffalo to Austin and the origins of her Bills fandom. Are boneless wings acceptable or a travesty? The Buffalo native weighs in with a definitive verdict. Victoria also talks about her musical career, and she and Pat name the artists they’d choose if they could only listen to one for the rest of their lives. Then it’s back to football, as Victoria tells Pat about her Scott Fish Bowl team and her biggest hits and misses of 2021. There’s also some conversation about the Cowboys, the Chiefs, Rhamondre Stevenson, Rashod Bateman, and Elijah Moore.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Victoria Geary (@ffb_victoria)                Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set  Learn more about your ad choices. Everyone and Their Cousins (guest: Michael Salfino)

Everyone and Their Cousins (guest: Michael Salfino)

Host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in Michael Salfino (@Michael Salfino) of The Athletic, FiveThirtyEight.com, and The Breakfast Table Podcast for a wide-ranging conversation about fantasy football, the NFL in general. and music. Through 10 weeks, who are the Super Bowl favorites in a topsy-turvy NFL season? Mike and Pat assess some of the candidates. They also discuss Odell Beckham Jr.’s outlook with the Rams, DeSean Jackson’s outlook with the Raiders, Rhamondre Stevenson’s breakout, Lamar Jackson’s season, and what to make of the rookie quarterbacks. Mike and Pat also debate Michael Carter’s value and discuss Elijah Moore’s rookie season.  Mike has interviewed Bill Parcells on multiple occasions and talks about what the coach is like. There’s also some discussion about “CEO coaches” (like Parcells) vs. play-caller coaches. Which Led Zeppelin album is the best? What did Nirvana mean to an old-school rock fan like Mike? And if Mike had to cut the music of either Bob Dylan, Elton John or Bruce Springsteen out of his life, who would be sent packing? Mike and Pat offer some rock thoughts. There’s also some chatter about James Conner, Kirk Cousins, and the elite-TE strategy to close the show.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Michael Salfino (@Michael Salfino)       Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set  Learn more about your ad choices. Waffle Ironman (guest: Matthew Freedman)

Waffle Ironman (guest: Matthew Freedman)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is Matthew Freedman (@MattFtheOracle), and their first order of business is to sift through the wreckage of what looks like a season-ending injury for RB Derrick Henry. Is Jeremy McNichols the next man up for the Titans? How will this affect the fantasy value of Ryan Tannehill and A.J. Brown? Matt and Pat also discuss lessons learned from the 2021 season to date. Have we figured out optimal TE strategy yet? Are there hard lessons to be learned from Robby Anderson’s collapse or from Kenneth Gainwell’s scant usage in Week 8 despite the absence of Miles Sanders< Matt and Pat also discuss rookie RBs Elijah Mitchell, Michael Carter and Jaret Patterson.  Matt details his Waffle House challenge this summer – how he approached the task of downing numerous large waffles over a short time period, and what it was like to spend nearly a full day in a Texas diner. Matt talks about doing research for a book on the late Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley, leading to a broader discussion of early-to-mid 1990s music and some of Matt and Pat’s favorite albums from that period. Matt talks about some of his hits and misses with player evaluations this season, and Matt and Pat close with some discussion about the Falcons’ passing game minus Calvin Ridley, the potential value of Michael Thomas, the outlooks for Stefon Diggs, and what’s gone wrong with Mike Williams.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Matthew Freedman (@MattFtheOracle)        Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set    Learn more about your ad choices. Replacements-Level Talent (guest: Andy Behrens)

Replacements-Level Talent (guest: Andy Behrens)

Host Pat Fitzmaurice @Fitz_FF) welcomes in fellow Chicagoan Andy Behrens (@andybehrens) of Yahoo Fantasy, and of course the conversation begins with a little Bears talk. After some nightmarish performances, should we be concerned about Justin Fields’ long-term future? And is rookie RB Khalil Herbert good enough to have a significant role in the Chicago offense once David Montgomery returns from injury? The NFL declared Sunday of Week 7 to be National Tight Ends Day, and there were some newsworthy TE performances. Is Kyle Pitts good enough to pass Travis Kelce to become the TE1 for 2022 fantasy drafts? What’s the outlook for Zach Ertz in Arizona? How should fantasy managers feel about George Kittle and T.J. Hockenson going forward?  Andy talks about being a superfan of the band The Replacements in the late ’80s, and he and Pat discuss the band, its legacy and some of its best songs. At this year’s King’s Classic at the Fantasy Football Expo in Canton, Ohio, Andy drafted a team that was widely panned by Sirius XM Fantasy Channel hosts and Twitter critics alike. Who’s on that team and how is it doing? Andy tells all. Andy and Pat also discuss Leonard Fournette, Chase Claypool, Michael Gallup and Tua Tagovailoa.  Host: Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF)  Guest: Andy Behrens (@andybehrens)               Podcast produced by Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland)  Music provided by International Jet Set and The Replacements  Learn more about your ad choices.
