Fi: Veikko istui tietokoneensa ääressä ja katseli selaimen ikkunasta, miten naapurit valmistautuivat juhannukseen.
En: Veikko sat at his computer and looked out from the browser window, watching how the neighbors were preparing for juhannus.

Fi: He asuivat Espoon rauhallisessa aidatussa yhteisössä.
En: They lived in a quiet gated community in Espoo.

Fi: Koko paikka oli täynnä kesän vihreyttä ja lintujen laulua.
En: The whole place was filled with the greenery of summer and the song of birds.

Fi: Juhannuskoristeet roikkuivat talojen ovilla ja suurta kokkoa rakennettiin järven rantaan.
En: Juhannus decorations hung on the doors of the houses, and a large bonfire was being built by the lake.

Fi: Veikkolle tämä kaikki tuntui vieraalta.
En: To Veikko, all of this felt foreign.

Fi: Hän oli mukavuusalueellaan tietokoneiden parissa eikä perinteiden keskellä.
En: He was in his comfort zone with computers, not amidst traditions.

Fi: Pirjo, Veikon täti, kolkutteli hänen oveensa iloisena.

Fi: "Veikko! Tulehan nyt ulos katsomaan! On juhannus ja sinun on aika nauttia perinteistä," Pirjo sanoi ja hymyili leveästi.
En: "Veikko! Come outside and have a look! It's juhannus and it's time for you to enjoy some traditions," Pirjo said with a wide smile.

Fi: Veikko huokaisi hiljaa.
En: Veikko sighed softly.

Fi: "Taidan olla enemmän sisäänpäin kääntynyt, näin koodarin hommissa," hän mutisi, mutta nousi kuitenkin ylös, tietäen ettei täti antaisi periksi helpolla.
En: "I guess I'm more introverted, being a coder and all," he muttered, but got up nonetheless, knowing his aunt wouldn't give up easily.

Fi: Pirjo oli aina ollut perinteiden puolestapuhuja ja Veikko tiesi, että tämä ilta voisi olla hyvä tilaisuus päivittää hänen tuntemustaan suomalaisista juhlista.
En: Pirjo had always been a strong advocate for traditions, and Veikko knew that this evening could be a good opportunity to update his understanding of Finnish celebrations.

Fi: He kävelivät yhdessä järven rannalle, jossa suuri joukko ihmisiä oli jo kokoontunut.
En: They walked together to the lakeside, where a large crowd had already gathered.

Fi: Ilma oli täynnä grillin savua ja iloista naurua.

Fi: "Nyt on aika tanssia. Tulehan mukaan!" hän sanoi ja ojensi kätensä kutsuvasti.
En: "Now it's time to dance. Come on!" she said, extending her hand invitingly.

Fi: Veikko epäröi.
En: Veikko hesitated.

Fi: Hänen mielensä täyttyi epäilyillä.
En: His mind was filled with doubts.

Fi: Entä jos hän häpäisee itsensä?
En: What if he embarrassed himself?

Fi: Entä jos hän ei osaa askelia?
En: What if he didn't know the steps?

Fi: Mutta kun hän katseli ympärilleen, hän näki ystävälliset kasvot, ihmisiä, jotka odottivat saavat juhlia yhdessä.
En: But as he looked around, he saw friendly faces, people who were eager to celebrate together.

Fi: Lopulta hän tarttui Pirjon käteen.
En: Finally, he took Pirjo's hand.

En: At first, Veikko stumbled with his steps, and his movements felt clumsy.
