From Classroom to Coastlines: Jessie Hooper’s Journey of Healing and Self-Discovery

Today we are sitting down with Jessie Hooper and if you are a current or former teacher you will relate and enjoy on another level.

I was so grateful to be able to talk about teaching again and also the liberation and growth that comes from stepping away, whether that’s for a new career path or through a break and sabbatical like Jessie.

Jessie is on the second year of her sabbatical from the middle school classroom that she left due to high stress and a need to focus on her health. During her time away she has been traveling, taking care of her mental health, leaning into personal development, and getting back into touch with her desires outside of what society deems the “right” path

We talk about her time in the classroom, what she has learned while traveling, how she affords it, what her plans are for the future, and the advice she has for teachers who might be feeling burnt out in the classroom and curious about what else might be out there.

Lots of giggles. Lots of relatability. Jessie is very freaking cool and I know you’ll enjoy and want to follow her immediately if you don’t already.
