A photographer and author based on Vancouver Island, Canada. With 40 years behind the camera, he’s captured breathtaking moments from swimming with humpback whales in Tonga to photographing the elusive Spirit Bear in Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest. His travels have spanned seven continents and 58 countries, but he prefers to immerse himself deeply in the places he visits. A former humanitarian photographer turned celebrated author, educator, and speaker, his passion lies in turning his lens toward the natural world and inspiring others to pursue a life of intention and creativity. After a life-altering accident redefined his creative journey, he has encouraged countless photographers to move beyond the rules and create images that are not only visually compelling but deeply personal. Known for his mantra, 'Gear is good, Vision is better,' he brings a refreshing perspective to the craft of photography. Along the way, he has also authored several books, and we’ll dive into his latest work, Light, Space & Time: Essays on Camera Craft and Creativity, and explore how his vision continues to evolve.
