Working the overnight shift in a psychiatric hospital means hearing stories most people would rather dismiss.

One hallway in particular had a reputation. Patients often refused to sleep there, insisting something was watching them from the corner of their rooms. Staff chalked it up to nightmares, anxiety, or the illnesses that brought them there in the first place.

Then one night, during a routine hallway check, the sounds began. A heavy door clicked open. Footsteps followed behind her.
