Caribbean Meets South Asia

Maya Joshi is a first-generation American of Caribbean and South Asian heritage, originally from New Jersey but raised in San Diego at the age of 10. In this episode, she talks about navigating her Indian and Dominican cultures while also learning what it means to be a first-generation American. Maya is a creative and content creator for Corazon Resiliente, a mental health platform for Latin American and Caribbean folx. Her mission is to encourage more conversations around mental health and break the stigma against getting help in BIPOC communities, with a special emphasis on the first-gen experience. Connect with Maya on IG at @mayaaalicious_ or visit her website, mayamjoshi.com. Check out her podcast We Gotta Talk About (@wegottatalkabout_) wherever you listen to pods and follow her mental health page @corazon.resiliente. Big shoutout to my sponsor and partner, RisOn (RisOn.life)! As a Hella Latin@ listener, you get access to a free one-month RisOn membership. To all my first-gens friends, if y'all are ready to start your mental, emotional and spiritual journey, stick around at the end of the episode for more details.
